Impact
This was such a lackluster promotional weekend. I didnt know ANY of the 3 new releases were coming out today. I know its October but dang son, some more tv sports and cereal boxes please. Get your Carrie and Fifth Estate cereal
kitik
That's a pretty good number for Carrie. Certainly not huge, but based on midnights last night, I was afraid it would be smaller than that. Assuming it has a better than usual hold next weekend, it should have a decent run. Now watch Nikki's early guess be high by 2 million.

TLK
There is more to wikileaks than just politics. In fact, it isn't even about politics if you think about it. How is wikileaks even a political issue in the regular Democrat-Republican context in the US? There is hardly any political support for Assange and Wikileaks in most countries. I see it more as a story about espionage and how it is virtually impossible to tame technology in a global world. As far as state secrets are concerned, t is the job of the state to protect them if it considers them important enough. There is no reason for an American citizen to pay any deference to Brazilian state secrets and vice-versa.

stuart360
Nope, R, which will probably hurt it. Ah cool. I asked because i remeber watching one of the very first trailers or something and i swear it looked like they had changed the pig blood dropped on carrie into some kind of black oil or something , i thought it must be PG13 remake as usual. grey ghost
Nope, R, which will probably hurt it. I can't see it doing any better with a weak PG-13 rating.
CaptainJackSparrow
Well considering the main character is a teenager, teenagers won't be able to see the film without an adult.

stuart360
Did Chloe being in Carrie help it or hurt it? What?, i haven't seen the film but she's pretty amazing in everything she's in so i can't see her hurting the film.
TLK
Did Chloe being in Carrie help it or hurt it? It should help. There aren't that many teenage actors/actresses who can match her level of name-recognition.
grey ghost
What?, i haven't seen the film but she's pretty amazing in everything she's in so i can't see her hurting the film. When she's the main attraction her movies rarely open over 14 m.
BoxOfficeFangrl
I've seen TV ads for The Fifth Estate, it just looked very generic and the reviews had to be strong and they weren't. It's a Wikileaks movie–sure, when it was in the news, people knew enough about it for SNL to do multiple sketches, but it's one thing to watch Bill Hader in a wig for a few minutes and another years later to go to a theater and pay to see a feature film. And even DiCaprio has flopped with a poorly reviewed biopic, so Rinkydink Curdlesnoot in the same spot was bound to do much worse. Tumblr popularity is better than nothing but in terms of box office pull it ain't much. Edited October 18, 2013 by BoxOfficeChica
