Boogie Nights! Another great film by PTA. The opening scene is so spectacular with the long tracking. This is Wahlberg's best performance, and Reynolds and Moore are great as well. Direction and script are amazing, as always from PTA. John C Reilly and Seymour Hoffman are scene stealers in this one.A-/A

I love this movie. It was so brilliant. Acting is fantastic the screenplay is great and same with the direction. I am surprised Mark could perform such a good performance.

 I was disappointed how cliched Boogie Nights got as it went along, but PTA's amazing direction and writing make this a joy to watch, and a movie that despite its long length never feels boring. The movie gets grim at one point, but its obvious that the reality of porn industry is even nastier and more awful than they depict it here. I thought it was interesting though how the porn industry completely changed in the 80's. Porn became accsessible on video and stuff more niche and deprived found its audience easier. I wonder what Burt Reynold's character would think of today's world internet porn, that satisfies pretty much any fetish you could think of.

 

All the acting in this is good. All of it. Especially Mark Wahlberg, who's at his best ever in here. The ensemble is amazing, and the dialogue written to the million talking characters is remarkable. Points too for a fantastic soundtrack.

 

Its not one I'll be coming back to time and time again, but its damn good stuff.

I thought it was great until it kept going and going and going past the point where it should have ended. But eprformences were top notch. Mark Wahlberg was ridiculously snubbed for this.

Definitely, he's sooooo good in this. I also agree that the movie started to go a little downhill as the 80's started.

BUMP.. I was at BLOCKBUSTER VIDEO Earlier and there going out of Business and have to get rid of EVERYTHING by March 24th.. I saw this on sale for $12.00 and it's the 2 Disc Platinum Series.. A MUST SEE if you haven't seen this movie yet.. Burt Reynolds won an Oscar for this I believe which was his comeback and was well deserving along with a Young Mark Wahlberg as Dirk Diggler.. What a fucking awesome name!!   

Robin Williams won an Oscar,NO BURT REYNOLDS!

Haven't seen this in awhile. But 20 posts and no one mentioned Heather. Wasn't she good in this besides het being nude on rollerskates. And this is just a cool movie with a lot of personalities.
