Dingdong123
And I thought that 5M for BH6 was basically smashing in Argentina then I saw that Frozen actually did 11M in this market....

I still don't understand why people keep making comparisons between Frozen and Big Hero 6... Did you really think before its release that Big Hero 6 was going to reach 1.2B WW????
Hernan Gonzalez
Weekend Top 5: 1- The Hobbit BotFA, 276935 admissions, new, around $1.9m-$2m 2- Big Hero 6, 121378 adm, -27%. Cume: 866642 adm, around $5.2m 3- Ouija, 84575 adm, new, around $0.5m 4- Dumb and Dumber To, 24543 adm, -44%. Cume: 834605 adm, around $4.6 5- Exodus, 20561 adm, -59%. Cume: 422734 adm, around $2.5m The Hobbit 3 opened around 40% better than DoS. Baymax keeps doing pretty good and it will beat Ralph for sure. Not horrible OW for Ouija. Dumb and Dumber To fell over 40% for the first time but it did already so much more that it was expected for that kind of movie. Exodus is falling hard after the holidays, it won't reach 0.5m admissions (Noah sold 715k tickets). Mockingjay is pretty close to 1m admissions (it only needs 14k to reach that number), it will end around 20% over than Catching Fire.

Hernan Gonzalez
Well even Brave made around $11m in this market tooBrave did $ 9.2m during the 16 days of their winter holidays, by far the busiest time of the year in this market. And December is the weakest month of the year there... Wreck it Ralph is the perfect movie to compare to Big Hero 6. Both movies oriented mostly to boys. Tangled and Frozen are more girl oriented movies. And it's easier to give a boy a ball and take him to the park or to the beach than to convince a girl not to go to the movies several times to sing "Let it go" Edited January 6, 2015 by Henry II of Arendelle

Cume: 434650 adm, around $2.5m DoS sold 740571 admissions ($5.2m) at the end of its run. At this pace BotFA will do that in less than 2 weeks!!! Another week over 200k admissions for Big Hero 6, it is showing pretty good legs. It's 4th week is almost on par with Frozen's.

Hernan Gonzalez
No. It depends on the movie and the exchange rate. This year the argentinean peso is a little bit stronger than last year. I look for the gross in pesos on www.cinefreaks.com.ar and the admissions on ultracine.com. For example, BotFA's average ticket last weekend was very high ($7.65) and Big Hero 6 was $6.04

Hernan Gonzalez
Night at the Museum 3 might sell more tickets this weekend than The Hobbit 3 but Bilbo and friends should do more money, even though BotFA is falling around 60%, it will be close to $4m tonight. NatM3 OW around $0.8m. Big Hero 6 is dropping around 30%. It passed 1m admissions yesterday. It will beat HTTYD2 this weekend to become the 3rd animated movie for 2014 behind Rio 2 and Frozen. It will stand at $6.3m by the end of the weekend Edited January 11, 2015 by Henry II of Arendelle

Hernan Gonzalez
2014 was only 5.79% under the record made in 2013 (in admissions) and it was so much better than the other World Cup years affecting the best months for the Box Office. With all the great movies opening in 2015, this could be the first year with more than 50m tickets sold!!! Anual Gross Year Admissions in millions 2014 44.2 m $256 2013 46.9 m $315 2012 46.3 m $286 2011 42.4 m $239 World Cup Brazil – 2014 44.2 m $256 World Cup South Africa – 2010 38.0 m $183 World Cup Germany – 2006 34.9 m $96 World Cup Japan/Korea – 2002 31.7 m $

Cume: 232123 adm, around $1.4m Decent opening for Night at the Museum 3. It could reach $3m by the end of its run. BotFA will definitely beat DoS but AuJ looks out of reach right now: DOS, Final: $5.2m, 736k admissions AUJ, Final: $7.4m, 1.05m admissions Big Hero 6 will pass WiR on Friday. Let's see if it can resist the arrival of the penguins on the 22nd to get close to Tangled. But $8m look pretty locked now. WDAS movies: 1- Frozen, 1.94m admissions 2- Tangled, 1.62m admissions 3- Wreck it Ralph, 1.17 admissions 4- Big Hero 6, 1.15 admissions Today openings: Fury and Seventh Son.
