currently i am 90-95 for barbie and 40 for oppy.

Damn I really hope it falls short. Barbie looks so bad.. But the Female power is strong in this one lol

I will go against the grain and predict 85-88M for Barbie.

And 41-44m for Oppheim

Barbie's numbers are crazy but Oppenheimer doing blockbuster numbers here is insane too. I know ticket prices are hefty at the moment but that's like doing a $50M 3rd weekend in the US. Another positive note this weekend, Talk To Me had a very small drop, $665K, down about 15% from last weekend.

Its insanity. Especially folks I know who saw it... Telling me dont waste my money. Did you you see it Fanboy. How was it.. I just dont get it even the trailers didnt look like this film should be competing with MI and Oppenheimer. Wow.. This is like the underdog that conquering the so called beasts of the Summer.

MI seems to be slowing down too. Wow

Loved both movies. I actually watched Barbie twice because two different friends wanted to see it at different locations. I enjoyed it more on second watch tbh. I think Barbie might be overperforming a little bit in Aus due to Margot Robbie being the lead but people across the globe are embracing it and it does feel unique and topical compared to most summer blockbusters and female driven comedies which is probably why it's doing so well virtually everywhere. 55M might be a bit of a stretch for Opp given it has to make another $28M vs Barbie which has to make $24M to get to 85M when it's still doing more than double Opp's numbers. Opp is almost certainly gonna land somewhere between 40 and 50 and Barbie probably between 90 and 100.

You know if someone had told me Barbie could make 100Mil in Austraila I would have thought the person is plum loco seeing how hard it is for films like Avatar to get there. But man yes indeed Brother Fanboy its could actually do it. Whats the worldwide tally of it so far? This sucker definitely looks to be heading perhaps near Maverick Territory... What in the world lol?

It doesnt seem like my type of comedy but I guess its not as bad as I thought. Since some folks are indeed digging it including yourself.

Looks like Margot Robbie might have silenced the BO poison finally too perhaps with this one. Outstanding. I like Margot in Tarzan and Wolf of Wall street by the way. I couldnt stomach her in BOP.

What are the current biggest films in Australia btw? Has any film reached the 140mil-160M mark USD equivalent yet?

;-o!

Week 3

A$13,927,369 (A$63.39M) | Barbie

  A$6,503,557 (A$28.66M) | Oppenheimer

So a ~35% drop for Barbie from an already insane 2nd week, and then about a ~30% drop for Oppy off of an equally impressive second week.

We’re witnessing some pretty incredible stuff.

On a side note though, how incredible is it that we’re going to have 3 x $90m+ grossers in the space of 15 months!?

Showdown Barbie vs Avatar etc

Barbie is the 3rd fastest film to 60m as it continues to put up the highest weekends (Top 2nd, 3rd so far).  Continuing to play as a mostly weekend film (probably due to school being in)  it's well on it's way to a 85m+ finish here (for reference that is like it earning 850m Stateside).    Currently it trails only SWTFA and AEG at the same points in their runs and those films had Christmas holidays to support their runs to this point.    I do suspect that Barbie may still fall short of 90m as while it leads Avatar TWOW, TWOW is continuing to catch Barbie thanks to it's weekly total (even though weekends are stronger to Barbie) and that film only made it to 93m.  Still an amazing run whichever way you look at it and unexpected.
