There is NO WAY Avatar 2 makes that "little". The internet hate may be skewed but the general public LOVED this film. Dvd/Bluray sales + tv replay proves it. When the trailers come out everyone will get excited again.

 

550 it the minimum for Avatar 2.  I can see Avatar 3 and Avatar 4 decreasing significantly if the second one isn't good.

I've got Avatar 2 at 560M, I think 3 will increase because of a gut feeling that two will be btter  than the first, (not saying three will do as good as the first) and the four will drop and be the lowest grossing of the franchise.

Yes. We have seen before big players squeeze out the smaller movies. No I think Avatar 2 will take the Dec 16 spot and SW will to Xmas weekend.

I hope you are right but consider why Avatar was so popular. A big reason was the story, sure. Another reason was the newness of it all (new world and innovative use of 3D). The sequels wont have that going for it. I think the dropoff will be greater than $20 but hope I am wrong.

I know right.. IF you notice even the great Box office predictors are saying this could be the first film to go for  900M- bill domestic all we need is a 140-170M OW and typical James Cameron muliplier... Exciting times. I agree lowest will be 550-630M domestic

 

The highend... Oh my -740-1BIL.. Are we witnessing another magic moment.

That wont happen as everyone was saying Avatar would flop or make less than stellar numbers(Haters on the net lol) It smashed up Titanic, the film on HV outsold and out merchandised Avengers and HP 7 in every way.. Right now Avatar 1 is approaching 44-46+ M units on HVs lil mac. Sold 31+M units its first year and change. Avengers in comparison has sold 14-20M units WW. lol

 

Like I said its far more likely records will be made again than a fall off.. ANd have you ever seen James Cameron come up with a sequel thats just more of the same lol...Of Course Avatar II will be even more crazy and monumental than Avatar I.

 

James isnt Speilberg or other directors who alot of time are content with repeating  more of the same. He pushes the envelope in all his work.

 

Titanic to Avatar , Abyss-Aliens, Terminator to Terminator 2.

 

 

So lets stop the madness because audiences are going to be flocking this lil mac to see what James Does next.

Like he said hes turning down so many big projects.

 

Hes only in the Avatar Business with Fox... That shows you how gigantic the sequels will be.. I wont be suprised if we see LOTR gain after gain but on more spectacular level

Lol Ethan we should tell them that Avatar destroyed Avengers in the merchandising and HV BO market as well..  And is now in the 40+M Units sold WW.. While I doubt Avengers has reached even 20+M units WW... Seems  it all points to an increase to me both domestic and OS..

I mean Im a fan of both, but you've got to be insane to be  expecting SWs or Avengers to come close to mega epic being done by James Cameron  and a sequel that is just off the charts on fan love..(I mean its hard to seperate who they love more, James Cameron or Avatar lol)

Bravo.God, I am gonna enjoy seeing Avatar 2 break record after record and I am gonna love seeing the detractors come up with ridiculous excuses to justify the film's success. It will be awesome. Then the cycle will start all over again just in time for part 3: «Nobody liked A2, it was all pretty colors and bright lights, the characters were cardboard, people don't know the characters' names, audiences are sick of Cameron, blahblahblah...»

1.6B could beat VII, as of now VII has no reason to do above 1.2B-1.3B.

Wow Neo I actually cant see SW7 with the original cast making less than 1.4-1.6B range and could get to the 2billion WW range. That will be a big event film nearly but not quite on the level of Avatar.. Funny how BKB is banking on  Avengers over Disneys Own SW7.

 

 I think SW7 may destroy Avengers2 actually.

I just don't think Avatar has the stickiness that mega-cult franchises like Star Wars have retained over the years. I've heard people talk disparagingly about the film ('blue people', ferngully/dancing with wolves, etc) years later. I am just skeptical that it has a mass following. The more I think about it, I think $500m is ridiculously high. What made those weekend drops so low was the novelty factor. Avatar 2 will be big but $400-500m big. Again, I loved it. Saw it 6x in theaters. I am not a hater, just a realist.
