It won't be as big as the first one for a few different reasons. First, 3D isn't that popular anymore. Alice benefited from being like the first 3D movie after Avatar. The first movie wasn't that well received, so you can expect it to drop. Depp's on a losing streak and possibly lost a few of his fans after these last few movies. But nothing's sure on the last one, but the 3D and the quality will help the movie decrease quite a lot.

If this one is the same and they invest in marketing, let's say 100M since it's quite a blockbuster and of course studios think that this movie will actually increase, it'll need 600M just to cut even. Maybe more, if you count in over seas markets that don't even give the normal amount back to the studio.

Right. It can still be a sizable hit but they'd be wise to keep the budget down.

The only difference is that Looking Grace will be lucky to make 100M DOM and something like 300M OS is the most it can make. People won't give a fuck about that movie. And I assume the budget will be 250M.
