The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies OS Thread | 700M OS passed

Recommended Posts

this is Spain right?  So it is the most attended there?

How is it ever possible to earn so much in one country in Europe? It's whole OS in Euro. Excellent comparison to show how bad exchange rates can screw up everything...

I don't know about $1.1b but it would have beaten AUJ for sure.

With today exchange rates: AUJ about $890-900m, DOS about $860m. So yes, BOFA is making 100 million more with same conditions.

Which would be about $1050m, not $1.1b. ;)

Well, a bit more. If it finishes with 960, it would mean a 7% higher than today numbers of AUJ and a 11% higher than DOS's. It would imply 1.090 billion in 2012 and 1.065 billion in 2013.

Would it have been enough to surpass tf4 WW with last year or 2013 exchange rates?

With current exchange rates, Transformers 4 would be doing about 1.020 billion, so no, it would not be enough to outgross TF4, but they would be closer, aboout $60m instead $130m. The main advantage for TF4 over any other film is that much of its OS gross was made in countries like China or South Korea, whose currencies have not dropped like others. In fact, Yuan has not dropped.

700 is pretty much locked because China

Assuming this ends with $260m DOM and $715m OS, this will end in $975mln.

This is 100% locked to beat DOS all DOM, OS and WW

1 billion WW, not so confident, about 20 percent probablility. It would need a good drop from Monday (China) then a huge increase over the next weekend.

But wasn't the question whether BOFA would have beaten TF4 with last year's exchange rates, not whether TF4 would have grossed less than BOFA with today's exhange rates? And you yourself said:

So according to you, chances are it would have at least come very close if not beating TF4.
