September 6-8

Tyler Perry AND David Henrie in one movie?? Clearly the event of the year, one wonders why Blankments Productions forgot an extra zero. After all, there’s no way this horrendously made, shoddy film would make any less than $117,354,880 on OW! Alas, we must go with the reported numbers, which are a shoddy 11.7M. Poor Henrie :(

September 13-15

Welp, we’re officially in a slump. Both films opened expectations. Tick Tock had a meager 17M, despite the prime Friday the 13th release date. The film to blame is Yellow Wallpaper, which still has plenty of horror audience flocking to it (that drop! Wow.) My Little Pony seems to keep dropping each installment, but it may still eke out a profit.

12. Urinetown - 973,502 (WEEK 5)

September 20-22

Sailing Champion broke out to nearly 26M, mostly thanks to the unique subject matter. Owen Wilson be a happy man today. Despite Oscar buzz for Anna Kendrick, This is Not a Game failed to capture a wide audience thanks to its subject and relatively unknown actors. Fun fact: David Henrie turned down the role of Charlie because he believed the role of Gladea would be better for his career! Tick Tock had a decent drop thanks to not many people seeing it last week.

12. The Cloud – 972,261 (WEEK 8)

September 27-29

J.J. Abrams must not be feeling heavenly as his new film disappointed greatly at the box office. After being hyped up as the biggest original film since Joestars, the film ultimately was killed by mixed reviews and an unappealing premise for blockbuster status. Abrams must be looking for a RESTART of his career (subliminal messaging coughcough). Also, #9-12 should make everyone happy we're approaching fall season, thank goodness.

1. Heaven - 23,236,891 (NEW)
2. Sailing Champion - 15,590,222 (WEEK 2)
3. This is Not a Game - 6,574,909 (WEEK 2)

@TheDenominatorInsider

David Henrie has just been sued by Numerator Pictures by making false statements regarding This is Not a Game for personal financial gain. "David Henrie at no point was ever offered the role of Charlie. David Henrie was never even considered for a role in the film!" #HenrieGetsLawyered

After being hyped up as the biggest original film since Joestars,

Joestars isn't original. It's based on the (shockingly for me) Japanese manga series 'Jojo's Bizarre Adventure' (which is one of the longest running manga series ever and an inspiration for the Castlevania games). I just changed the name because I didn't think the old one would fit the tone of the film very well.

Anyway, I would sigh at another film of mine opening below the lowest prediction but it was only $1m behind and I openly admitted I don't really care how it scored so I'm perfectly fine with it. Also my other two films overperformed (including the one I actually really cared about) so I really can't complain.

Also, I get the feeling Blank gave Yellow Wallpaper super legs to try and make up to Alpha for that Heaven number...

... eh, the comparison still works because it's the biggest non-sequel :P

More like CAYOM's Jurassic Park/Phantom Menace since it needed a re-release to pass that mark.

Because Rukaio made the movie end at 998M WW, which would never happen in real life. I don't even understand why he did that. That forced me to re-release it.

October 4-6

Finally a big opening again! Unfortunately, Allegiant was a bit of a disappointment, opening well below Insurgent’s 90M+ opening. This is probably due to a combination of the five year gap caused by rights issues and the fact that the Allegiant book is easily the most disliked in the series. This begins what looks to be a very barren October, thanks to a very small amount of releases. What a shame.

1. Allegiant - 80,578,320 (NEW)
2. Heaven - 13,477,397 (WEEK 2)
3. Sailing Champion - 8,262,818 (WEEK 3)
4. This is Not a Game - 3,813,447 (WEEK 3)
5. Yellow Wallpaper - 2,911,271 (WEEK 7)
6. Train to Paradise - 1,737,863 (WEEK 6)
7. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic – The Legacy of Nightmare Rarity - 1,635,678 (WEEK 4)
8. Tick Tock - 1,610,105 (WEEK 4)
9. Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Time Machine - 727,718 (WEEK 5)
10. Fortune’s Hunters – 473,117 (WEEK 9)
11. The Sky Crawlers - 334,305 (WEEK 9)
12. The Little Mermaid 3D: The Family Edition - 294,648 (WEEK 5)

October 11-13

Allegiant stayed at the top, despite a harsh drop. This won’t have that great legs; heck, it might even cause a few legitimately reasoned “What Went Wrong” threads on the Internet! Forgotten Sound actually opened up pretty well, and audiences seem to like it despite critics hating it. I blame the celebrities.

1. Allegiant - 31,022,653 (WEEK 2)
2. Forgotten Sound - 20,824,951 (NEW)
3. Heaven - 6,873,472 (WEEK 3)

8. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic – The Legacy of Nightmare Rarity - 915,980 (WEEK 5)
9. Tick Tock - 579,638 (WEEK 5)
10. Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Time Machine – 320,924 (WEEK 6)
11. Fortune’s Hunters – 293,806 (WEEK 10)
12. The Sky Crawlers - 188,335 (WEEK 10)

October 18-20

Lord of the Flies opened in expectations’ range with 28.5M, which was adequate enough to take #1 for the weekend! Word-of-mouth is eh though, with many parents believing it was appropriate for children even when it clearly isn’t. Thanks to the current box office slump with lack of releases, Cybernetic 7 managed to place in the top 10 even with only seven theaters!

1. Lord of the Flies - 28,596,684 (NEW)
2. Allegiant - 15,480,304 (WEEK 3)
3. Forgotten Sound - 10,454,125 (WEEK 2)
4. Heaven - 4,673,961 (WEEK 4)
5. Sailing Champion - 1,592,245 (WEEK 5)
6. This is Not a Game - 1,327,079 (WEEK 5)
7. Yellow Wallpaper - 1,285,617 (WEEK 9)
8. Train to Paradise - 512,670 (WEEK 8)
9. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic – The Legacy of Nightmare Rarity - 445,166 (WEEK 6)
10. Cybernetic 7 - 317,751 (NEW)
11. Tick Tock – 216,205 (WEEK 6)
12. Fortune’s Hunters – 204,489 (WEEK 11)

October 25-27

Four movies opened this weekend, and yet, it’s still a strikingly low weekend in grosses. Ben Stiller’s recent Road Trip did decently with 23M, quickly followed by the last Silent Invasion movie, which made almost 16M. One wonders where the fudge is, but honestly, who cares? The real story of the weekend is that Cabin Fever didn’t make 72M, instead making a tenth of the original expectations. I mean, Cage and Henrie? What could go wrong? Hateful Eight had a good limited release though, along with Cybernetic 7’s expansion.

1. An Odd Road Trip - 23,326,379 (NEW)
2. Silent Invasion 3D: The Final Chapter - 15,996,246 (NEW)
3. Lord of the Flies - 12,267,977 (WEEK 2)
4. Allegiant - 7,647,270 (WEEK 4)
5. Cabin Fever - 7,216,180 (NEW)
6. Forgotten Sound - 6,439,741 (WEEK 3)
7. The Hateful Eight Redux - 4,867,819 (NEW)
8. Heaven - 2,336,981 (WEEK 5)
9. Cybernetic 7 - 1,627,486 (WEEK 2 - WIDER)
10. This is Not a Game - 822,789 (WEEK 6)

Insurgent still broke the October record by a mile though.

Also what's with Sailing Champion's drops? Not that I care too much since it's a filler that already made it's budget back but to suddenly collapse after having a very good second week hold is pretty odd.
