So with Interview dropping off the schedule (almost a given now), for SOTM3, does Lowest Opening Day, Lowest Opening Weekend and Lowest Multiplier all become Future as the answer?

Hmm, this raises another issue.  I had Interview as #15 on my top domestic list.  Bumping it off promotes my guess of Equalizer (post competition start).  Now technically the rules say that the competition is only open to movies that opened on 10/4 or later (maybe 10/3?  SOmething like that).  But I recall clarifying that for Total Domestic, it would be ok to guess a movie that had already opened, bearing in mind that it would only get credit for BO generated *after* the actual start of the competition.  Apparently I thought Equalizer was going to be huge.

 

Equalizer generated about $55m after the start of the competition, so I doubt it'll make the top 15, but I thought it was worth clarifying.

 

Edit - Incidentally, it also means we can now answer *preseason* Question #3.  Sure, I doubt too many thought Interview would fail to pass Addicted, but it was possible.

Yeah the interview does raise alot of questions that Iwill answer to each issue specifically over the weekend.

 

The general rule will be that it will act like it never existed, so top 15's will bump up their 16th pick etc.

 

FOr things like question 3 where it was multiple choice I will likely treat people choosing Interview as if they abstained, not that they are wrong.

 

For the SOTM question, yes it just leaves one less film in the future column annoyingly.

 

 

THe one thing for sure is that it will never be classed as grossing 0 dollars for any style of question it appears in.

Now The Interview is back in Cinemas on CD but only in 100 theatres; since it's no wide release its boxoffice performance shouldn't be considered (at least in top 15 DOM) IMHO

Also it creates awkward slippery slope precedents. (e.g If I had known Interview wasn't happening I'd have added 5M to Into the woods OW prediction and now its in my top 7 so i want to change etc.) 

 

 

Hilariously for me, I thought this film was going to completely bomb so I have it finishing below Addicted for that low gross preseason question and every other question its a low possibility for.

6 is pretty ridiculous IMO. And they're being too strict with it too. I agree that there were too many stickied posts sometimes but I think there should be more flexibility.
