Fullbuster
TRAILER : https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=z+nation+trailer Z Nation is an upcoming television series scheduled to air on Syfy. The first season will consist of 13 episodes, and is expected to premiere on September 12, 2014 Three years since a zombie virus devastated the United States, a group must transport the only known survivor three thousand miles from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood. His antibodies are the world's last best hope for a vaccine. However, he harbors a dark secret that threatens them all. REVIEW FROM IGN : http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/09/12/z-nation-puppies-and-kittens-review Excerpts : First and foremost, Z Nation isn’t afraid to use the word zombie. That may seem like a small victory to some but it does an excellent job of representing the attitude presented in the show. Z Nation does a decent job in its premiere episode, “Puppies and Kittens”, of embracing what makes a zombie apocalypse story fun. There’s an attempt here to take the serious tone of something like The Walking Dead and merge it with the campiness of something like Zombieland or the game Dead Rising. “Puppies and Kittens” definitely leans towards the former for about two thirds of the episode, before changing gears and becoming something different and exciting that kept me interested in the end. ......................... Yes, if you already watch The Walking Dead, Z Nation is worth checking out. It may visually match the style of the seasoned zombie series but it’s personality skews towards a little more camp, which is admittedly somewhat refreshing. It’s hard to say right now if the two shows can coexist but if The Asylum can work to their strengths this show could be a fun zombie adventure. Fullbuster
I'm going to give it a chance because it's different enough to get my attention, apparently the end of the episode is pretty WTF ^^ Edited September 12, 2014 by Fullbuster
cozmeesah
I personally think it's silly of them to even attempt to air this show. As humongous as TWD is now, making a show like this with this plot, even if the tone is a bit different, is stupid. Everyone will compare it to TWD, everyone will think of it as a ripoff. Trying to escort the "survivor" guy with the "answer" to the authorities is almost exactly the same as TWD's Eugene plot. If you're going to do a zombie series right now, it needs to be a total 180 from TWD.

IMO it's the opposite, it's pretty brave to do that, knowing they will be compared and considered as a copy in some way, they decided to rise to the challenge and IGN has been cleared it definitely takes a different approach like it's revealed at the end of the pilot. Competition is good and The Walking Dead can't be a monopoly in the field of zombie movies, it's not entitled to that. Competition means another vision, and it's an incitement for TWD because if it doesn't want to be left behind and passed it will have to improve. TWD is very successful but I will be honest : most of the time this show is plain boring, interesting in terms of scenario and characters but boring, it's not moving enough, it's too slow and it's like the show could go on forever given how the action takes place. Z Nation will give us travel and different backgrounds thanks to its plot, TWD is more abouit finding a safe place to live, they stayed in this prison for way too long (for example). cozmeesah
That's all true, however, most people WILL see it as nothing more than a TWD copy regardless of its quality because that's exactly what it's trailers and commercials make it look like. And also because it's on the SYFY channel, which isn't exactly known for high quality series. As a result, I'd say it's a good bet it won't have very high ratings. Especially not when it begins airing just a month before the highly anticipated and publicized next season of TWD. IMO, they'd have done better airing the whole thing during the TWD 6-month break. Then it might have had the chance to whet the appetites of TWD fans who hate the waiting, without also having to deal with it as competition. I agree about the release date, in June that would've be perfect. And you criticize SYFY but I disagree : Stargate and Warehouse 13 are great And according to IGN it's a good pilot so I'm confident. TWD is not really one of my favorite shows, it's overhyped IMO so if Z Nation can be a fun and dynamic alternative I'll jump in It's the beauty of competition
75Live
I saw the first episode this morning and it was decent. I will probably give the show a shot. It has its shortcomings but it was the first show so maybe it can get pass them as the season goes on.
Fullbuster
I watched the pilot, it was good, more appealing than TWD imo. You have a lot of action, a bit of humor and very fast zombies a,d characters with a goal, a mission, not just survival (boring after some time). I hope people will give it a chance because there is a great potential and competition is always good I already like it more than TWD. Fullbuster
The 2nd episode was pretty fun : a dog zombie, explosions, Murphy is a total liar and "Sunshine" the Asian women has a dark past, plus she's sexy ^^ The third one will be WTF from what we can see in the preview! The bell o_o
75Live
Yeah, it's kind of a time killer and an ok show. Definitely can tell it's an Asylum production but I don't mean that in a bad way. It's what they do and I like it. The show is definitely more on the comedic side and I enjoy that aspect. So two shows in, it stays on my list of things to watch
James
Saw the first two episodes. I was entertained. It doesn't have the good effects (and probably neither the budget), the very strong opening of TWD and neither the top notch acting, but it was more than ok. I liked the first 3 seasons of TWD, but after that I got bored. Let's hope this maintains the dynamism. The guy from the army station is my favourite character so far.

Fullbuster
Z Nation Episode 3 Geez, that was a great and shocking episode The real nature of the Campbell family Abby lived with : They're fucking cannibals!! The way they keep the bodies alive to keep them fresh with all these bandages was disgusting and horrifying..Something you would probably see in a post-apocalyptic world. Even TWD didn't disgust me that, well done o_o The group travelling all over the US will allow them to show many kinds of situation, something TWD can't do given people never leave their state/area. Competition is really something great, you can't argue with that
