chasmmi Posted October 13, 2014 Share Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) Premise should hopefully be simple, Deadline is 11:59 Tuesday 21st October: Step 1: Consider the following 10 films: Fury PAST Gone Girl PAST Annabelle PAST Addicted PAST Book of Life PAST John Wick FUTURE Nightcrawler FUTURE The Interview FUTURE Unbroken FUTURE Ouija FUTURE Step 2 Consider the following 8 popular Box Office statistics: (all weekends are the 3 day, all opening days are the Friday (with Thursday previews when applicable) Highest opening Weekend Highest Opening Day Lowest Opening Weekend Lowest Opening Day Highest 2nd weekend Drop Biggest Multiplier Lowest Multiplier Highest Worldwide total You will maybe have noticed that 5 of the films listed will already have been in cinemas when this question's deadline passes (PAST) and 5 will have yet to be released (FUTURE). For each of the statistics listed above, you simply need to decided whether film that matches the statistic is a PAST or FUTURE release (or you can choose to abstain From as many stats as you wish. Therefore your answers may look like the following: Highest opening Weekend PAST Highest Opening Day ABSTAIN Lowest Opening Weekend FUTURE Lowest Opening Day FUTURE Highest 2nd weekend Drop ABSTAIN Biggest Multiplier PAST Lowest Multiplier PAST Highest Worldwide total PAST For everything correct prediction, you score 2000 points. If you get 100% of your non-abstaining predictions correct you get 1000 bonus points per prediction made (so the example above could win 6000 bonus points if every prediction is correct). As for potential deductions, you will lose 1000 points for your first incorrect answer, 2000 for the second, 3000 for the third and so on... The first Stat is Highest opening weekend, so which single film out of the ten do you think will have the highest OW? If the film is in Group 1 then predict Past, if its group 2 predict future, if you can't decide then Abstain. After seeing the results of the first couple weeks (#10 or #11 on virtually every one!), I'm going to try to just make good contact and then leg out some infield singles, or possibly lean into a pitch of two.
