If I wasn't with my 77 year old father and it wasn't pouring rain like the end of the world, I would have raised hell at the meager offer.  As it is I got the hell out of dodge before I blew my lid.

It's been a while since he was at the helm of a major vfx blockbuster like this, so I'm sure nerves were a part of this.

 

Also might be a sign of how much of his heart and soul he put into the film.

#ReadyPlayerOne posits a corporate big wig who exploits fan culture for profit as its villain. The irony of that is giving me a headache. This is no love letter to pop culture. It’s a crass play to nostalgia; it offers nothing new or exciting.

It’s the best Spielberg action since TINTIN, that’s for sure. Cast is good, the motivations are there beyond “I wanna get rich,” and the score is dope. See this early on in a packed house: it’s guaranteed to get a decent pop.

#ReadyPlayerOne hot take review: a fun, enjoyable film with some amazing set pieces and references (THAT scene). However, the film suffers from a script that has a LOT of convenient plot devices and never really manages to make you care about the characters... 7/10 #sxsw

I think he's more saying that it might not be a four quadrant movie and to put the raves coming out of SXSW in perspective.

It sounds like legs will be good if the GA matches the geek crowd here. I don't see it straying far from the 30s tracking atm, so the total will probably be O/U 100M
