hmm ... don't know what exactly counts as fantasy - Gremlins 1+2 are very high on my overall list but maybe they're too little pure fantasy, as is Life of Brian - so I did it without them:

1. Lord of the Rings (I count them as one big movie)

2. The Dark Crystal

3. The Princess Bride

4. Big Fish

5. Spirited Away

6. Big Trouble in Little China

7. The Hobbit (again, all three count as one)

8. The Fountain

9. Hudson Hawk

10. Stardust

In case something doesn't count, runner-ups are: Pan's Labyrinth, Edward Scissorhands, Time Bandits, Willow, Your Highness, The Brothers Lionheart, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Forbidden Kingsom, Eric the Viking, Excalibur ... hell there's a lot of them runner-ups isn't it?

Love that you have DH1. :)

Azkaban is still my favorite. It is completely different to the rest of Potter films. It has an absurd touch that I love. But I like a lot the darkness and pre-ending feeling you get seeing DH1. A very solid film, IMO.

Wow. It was basically the animated, Harry Potter and LOTR show. Guess there haven't been that many good fantasy movies. Then again, it would have been very restricted as to what could have been done back then, so it makes sense. Fantasy is one of my favourite genres so always good to see more movies being made in the genre.
