RTH...can you give us a number that you think it could hit for Friday based on your incomplete data and expert extrapolation?

He's saying pretty please here in this photo

Rth likes to tease before he gives the goods.

There's a great line in the Rutger Hauer film called Wanted Dead or Alive where one of the FBI agents says, "The next time you're going to fuck me, kiss me first."  This is good advice for Deadline.

Universal’s “Fifty Shades of Grey” is dominating the North American box office, with early Friday estimates pointing to a launch as high as $85 million at 3,646 locations.

The erotic romance was on track to deliver an opening day of $26 million-$30 million Friday, including $8.6 million in Thursday-night grosses, as Universal’s highest-grossing latenight preview ever.

The Friday results would equate to a launch in the $75 million to $85 million range, showing that Universal has been exceedingly cautious in recent forecasts of an opening weekend of about $50 million. “Fifty Shades” appears to be outperforming even rival predictions of a weekend in the $70 million to $80 million range.

The weekend’s other opening, Fox’s “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” is also looking like it will overperform. The studio has been forecasting that the R-rated action adventure will take anything in the mid- to high $20 millions for the first three days at 3,204 locations and $30 million for the four days, but early estimates from rivals saw Friday numbers ranging from $11 million to $14 million for a four-day total around $43 million to $51 million.

Fifty Shades of Grey is easily seducing the North American box office, where it's poised to gross north of $26 million Friday for a historic $75 million-$85 million debut over the long Valentine's Day and Presidents Day weekend.

Universal's film adaptation of EL James' S&M-laced romance novel will easily best the $63.1 million launch of Valentine's Day in 2010 to tie up the best showing of all time for the holiday. The range of $75 million-$85 million indicates that no one is exactly sure how the movie will perform, or how front-loaded it is, since there are no precise comps.

The weekend's second new release, Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Secret Service, is no slouch either. Based on the strength of Friday traffic, the Fox film is now expected to race past $40 million in its opening, well ahead of expectations. Combined, the two movies will deliver up the best Presidents Day weekend of all time in terms of overall revenue.
