Otherwise it would potentially be advantageous to skip this set and assume that the make ups may have more than 15k up for grabs.

I think it should be worded differently.

 

The way you have it: If you agree to go for this question, you must answer three of these right. To me it sounds like you need to get 3 out of these 5 to get any points. If you only want 3 answered it should read: Out of these 5 questions only answer 3 with #5 as mandatory.
