Listen to ShawnMR on Movie Moan's Summer 2015 Box Office Predictions Spectacular

Recommended Posts

It'd be hard to go anywhere but up, creatively speaking.

(Yes yes, I know my prediction for it was wildly off.)

Ok. There's always a case when the sequel can be better than the first one....they just need something new & good to offer. ^_^

Now to the next Avengers sequel, Infinity War P1.

What's gonna happen next time? Are we gonna overpredict, underpredict or realisticly predict the correct DOM total it should finish?

I haven't seen 'em all this summer. You know I loved FURY ROAD. Really enjoyed TRAINWRECK and INSIDE OUT. I'm looking forward to MI5, hope to see it tonight.

Tele's review:

Eh, it was ok. Could have been better. No Tom Hardy sucks. Grade: C

I just found this thread.

And now, finally...

I've heard the voice of baumer, that sweet sweet siren song of box office.

My life is complete.

I also don't have three hours so, I don't know what you actually said for most of it. But I'm sure I approve!

The Results Show is up folks:

http://thinkmcflythink.squarespace.com/movie-moan-podcast/2015/9/7/movie-moans-summer-2015-box-office-results-show.html

Marvel at Shawn's accuracy on 'Terminator: Genysis'!

Scratch your head on how Ed won the 'Jurassic World' round but was still $400 million off!

Cheer for Jamie as he starts slow but makes a late charge for possible victory.

And laugh at me if you want for only getting one round right.  Just bear in mind............I beat everyone in the world on that one:)

Bahaha at this edit

Here's why any sub-500 prediction for TA2 is nuts - it would mean it does less than 80% of the business of the first movie. Here are some superhero blockbuster sequels that dropped more than 20% from their predecessor:

ASM (did 77% of SM3's gross)

ASM 2 (did 77% of ASM's grsss)

XMO: W (did 76% of XM3's gross)

B&R (did 58% of BF's gross)

Notice a pattern? They're all either terrible or following movies that were terrible/had mixed reactions. TA2 is much more likely to fall in the TDKR, SM2, IM2 range (i.e. 83-98% of their predecessor's gross). Hell, even SM3 did 90% of SM2's box office. Does anyone seriously think TA2 will have a worse reception than SM3?
