MrPink
What the heck is Star Trek Into Darkness and Angels and Demons doing on here? I voted for Angels and Demons I'm a sucker for the main theme. Keep in mind, the way I voted is just by remembering 50 scores I really liked and ordering them because I didn't want to spend more than 30 min to an hour coming up with a list. STiD though... Goffe
YASSSS for BB, STiD and A&D STiD over ST09 for me because it re-utilized ST09 themes better the original score, plus the villain theme is great. Same with TDKR vs BB and TDK, I prefer TDKR because it takes BB and TDK themes and makes them even better, while adding other great themes. 4815162342
80. Thor (2011) Original Music by Patrick Doyle 147 Points Top 10 Placements: 1 Top 5 Placements: 1 Wins Tiebreaker over On the Waterfront due to Number of Votes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBuIbjIvoko https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWmfIacPS94 Patrick Doyle and Kenny B are one of the best director/composer tag-teams out there. Thor marks their first appearance on this countdown. Thor is also the second and final MCU film to appear on the countdown. Doyle's music for the film brings a space opera feel with its triumphant themes and action beats, though you can detect some of that weird Marvel attitude towards film music forcing its way in there at times.

Blankments
Surprised Avengers didn't make it on there; personally my favorite MCU score, although Thor, Cap 1, and GotG (I know that last one is an odd choice but too bad) are no slouches

Should honorable mentions be used? Use your best judgment. If you find something out there you better than one of the samples I post, put it in. 79. Once Upon a Time in America (1984) Original Music by Ennio Morricone 153 Points https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LyXKoaI38A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCA28dgbDZ4 Ennio Morricone returns with one of the best scores he ever wrote. Once Upon a Time in America marks his final collaboration with Sergio Leone, another one of the all-time great Director/Composer combos. For this epic romantic crime drama that spans generations, Morricone uses haunting music that symbolizes the dark events of the past that follows the main characters everywhere and taints their attempts to make it forward. We will be seeing more Ennio and Sergio in the future.

The Wizard of Oz (1939) Original Music by Herbert Stothart 155 Points https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uX5Eko25C1w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyMJN7-ygY0 One of the original classic movies many kids in the U.S. grew up with, The Wizard of Oz is much more known for its songs than its instrumental music. but the score is one of the more invigorating and memorable outputs from that era of filmmaking.
4815162342
77. How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) Original Music by John Powell 155 Points Top 10 Placements: 1 Top 5 Placements: 1 Wins Tiebreaker over The Wizard of Oz due to a Top 5 Placement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asjzZ0-Zk8Y https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eY49xEQGqMw A bit of a surprising inclusion, but a couple people here really wanted the score in. It is a very good body of music, though it leans too much on the themes developed in the first outing. There's only one new theme of note in the movie, but Powell certainly makes it a memorable one. Surprised Avengers didn't make it on there; personally my favorite MCU score Avengers was at 115 points. It would have been 116th.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) Original Music by Alexandre Desplat 156 Points Top 10 Placements: 2 Wins Tiebreaker Over Pan's Labyrinth due to Number of Votes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tE6_awNDFbY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7HP5enOD8o Alexandre Desplat burst onto the film score scene about a decade ago and has quickly amassed a large share of Oscar nominations and critical acclaim for his work. And with Grand Budapest Hotel he scored his Oscar win, a deserving one for a body of music that has plenty of quirks and offbeat tunes to fit a Wes Anderson period piece, but also a lot energy and vigor.
4815162342
They have been quiet for a while, but the Nolanites have come back with a vengeance.74. The Dark Knight Rises (2012) Original Music by Hans Zimmer 157 Points Top 10 Placements: 1 Top 5 Placements: 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHT6e3PX6bQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX3TKYJnRMk Well, this happened. A couple people really wanted this film in the running. I personally find it to be the weakest of the NolBat film scores, but it does have a couple good new themes for Catwoman and Bane, and the progression of music in Rise does rival any one segment of music in the first two outings. This is the only NolBat film not to include James Newton Howard and it definitely shows as a lot of the softer and more nuanced music is cut out. The Panda
Pan's Labyrinth making the list more than makes up for The Dark Knight Rises, Thor, and HTTYD2 making an unnecessary appearance. Don't get me wrong I like httyd2s score but it's very copy and paste from the first, and given hat I assume that made it too it doesn't deserve two spots. Zimmer is one of the most overrated composers out there, he has some great scores, but people seem to think everything he makes is some masterwork when most of its loud thumping, non-melodious, noise. James
I had Angels & Demons at #8, STiD at #28 and TDKR at #50.
The Panda
Are you deaf? Jut because you dont like the movie it doesnt mean the soundtrack isnt magnificent. It's not a terrible score, in fact its one of Zimmers good ones, but zimmer as a whole is very overrated. It has nothing to do with me not liking the movie, there's a few films I didn't like at all the made my list.
MrPink
I didn't vote for TDKR. Nor TDK for that matter. I did put in Batman Begins somewhere towards the bottom. It's a fun listen through and through. Edited April 26, 2015 by MrPink
