Oscars Discussion - Nominations in First Post - Red Carpet Time!

I thought Bridesmaids was better than DH2.The only loss that can upset me is if Tree of Life loses Cinematography. Hugo was beautifully shot so I can live if that wins, but I'll be severely pissed if The Artist wins. Not a person on the planet can convince me it deserves it over what Lubezki did.

not at all, TDK in 08 will go down as one of the biggest snubs everno one will argue that will EASILY be the most remembered movie and probably overall called the best from 08

*Sigh* Too true. I don't put any stock in them anymore, but there's always one or two categories where I'm a strong advocate for a nominee or film.

Game of Thrones season one is more entertaining, complex, scripted then most of the choices in film this year. Just watching it again today before the show thinking, "Man, how far film has merged with television (in terms of quality)"

I'm always leery of comparing TV to film. Shows gets hours and hours to tell much more expansive stories with greater detail to characters. But I agree that there's some extraordinary TV being done, Game of Thrones included.

I think Tree of Life gets snubbed and Hugo takes Cinematography.Anyway, I feel this is a pretty predictable year. The Artist will win both BP and BD.

A power hour isn't when you take shots every time X occurs, it's when you drink 8 beers in one hour, which works out to about a shot of beer every minute (or substitute shots of harder liquor with greater intervals for obvious reasons). Edited February 26, 2012 by 4815162342

I just turned for a second to Red Carpet and it's hilarious how much gagging and sucking they just did with Melissa McCarthey, puke. She's ok but nothing great. Those interviews are so cringe worthy.

Honestly, are there going to be any surprises tonight/reason to watch? At this point I expect The Artist to basically clean up, with my only hope being Scorsese gets best Director. Also, I think The Artist is an excellent movie, but I can't remember the last time I cared less about the oscars, well maybe the 2009 awards as that was an equally bad year for movies (Hurt Locker has to be one of the most forgettable bp winners and one I find quite overrated).

Oh I thought the Oscars were starting now, but I guess it was just red carpet for another 90 minutes. I'll pass on watching that.
