charlie Jatinder
And it overtakes Endgame. Maoyan updated the pre-sales. 1
charlie Jatinder
Detective Chinatown 3 T-9 Days Friday - ¥146M (+¥20M) on 109K shows Saturday - ¥22.1M (+¥5.9M) on 50K shows Sunday - ¥12.8M (+¥4.8M) on 32K shows Total - ¥181M or $28M Second biggest opening day pre-sales ever T-9 days behind Endgame. Final pre-sales probably 400M. <iframe width="556" height="371" seamless frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vQeYCxFjCOf7ECULVp8rzmpuo6BSerz1LtsKvsBvXUKVmvc37dycGm0T96UUImpmWCxfDncA5PeH9C-/pubchart?oid=1633834891&format=interactive"></iframe> Edited February 3, 2021 by jatvision 1
charlie Jatinder
@Gavin Feng Maoyan and Taopiao are adding showing 8M more on Friday "total so far" then what they are showing for Friday daily. e.g. Friday is currently 156M but total till Friday is shown 164M. Why? I dont see any previews on any day.
charlie Jatinder
Seems like yesterday near midnight update was wrong as Taopiaopiao was just 145M, which is where initially I was expecting. Now Taopiaopiao increased 13M today but Maoyan has increased only 5M. So Maoyan probably self-correcting,
charlie Jatinder
The daily numbers aren't regular. The yesterday numbers and considering pace Taopiaopiao is going, seems like the slow day was a mistake. Detective Chinatown 3 T-6 Days Friday - ¥211M on 131K shows Saturday - ¥33.7M on 67K shows Sunday - ¥18M on 43K shows Total - ¥253M or $39.5M <iframe width="556" height="371" seamless frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vQeYCxFjCOf7ECULVp8rzmpuo6BSerz1LtsKvsBvXUKVmvc37dycGm0T96UUImpmWCxfDncA5PeH9C-/pubchart?oid=1633834891&format=interactive"></iframe> Edited February 6, 2021 by jatvision 1

charlie Jatinder
And seems like Maoyan correcting itself again. Now almost par Taopiaopiao. Daily trend is pretty useless. Though I have adjusted them to make some sense. Now on track to beat Endgame Day 1 PS if the adjusted trend holds true.
charlie Jatinder
It is amazing how close EG (MN+OD) holds to DC3 at the moment. If it get OD of 720-730M, that will be special.

peludo
On par to Endgame... Astonishing. I do not know if it is expected to be a great or at least a decent movie, but is there any estimation about its final gross? Wandering Earth level? Can it even challenge WW2? Or we have to wait to see the initial reactions?
charlie Jatinder
I am thinking some thing like 750 625 575 525 500 475 400 // 3850 300 250 150 // 4550 Full run 5500-5900M
charlie Jatinder
Detective Chinatown 3 has crossed $50M (¥323M) in pre-sales, including $38M for opening day. The pre-sales are biggest ever for opening day while 2nd biggest overall behind Endgame at same circle of time. 2 1

charlie Jatinder
CNY OD T-4 Days Pre-sales 2021 - ¥400M 2019 - ¥344M 2018 - ¥345M DC3 singlehandedly lifting 2021 CNY as other films are relatively smaller.
Cooper Legion
Yeah, this CNY PS are way more top heavy to #1 film than we’ve usually seen before. Very curious to see how reception breaks out and whether one of the lower films can eventually pass DC3 in dailies.
charlie Jatinder
Damn. Another huge day. 500 is likely. Monster Hunt 2 opening day may go down in pre-sales perhaps. 2
charlie Jatinder
I am gonna go very bold here and say ¥800M OD for DC3. Capacity is insane. Already 1.2B on 151K shows. Might get to 180K shows perhaps.

I guess both are not comparable since, if I am not wrong, DC3 will have showtimes along the whole night, but anyway that $27m gap is huge. Just wondering why not go for screenings right after midnight. Having extra 60K shows would probably give a chance at Billion Yuan OD. May be some other film some other day. Endgame probably had 65-70K shows a day during its opening weekend, so DC3 has an advantage of 100k more shows. EG has advantage of higher ticket price, probably at $11-12, while DC3 at $7.75 Approx.
