Summer Game SOTM 3: The Summer Game Champions Cup! First Round Deadline is Thursday 19th May at 11:59pm

Ok this is something a little (well a lot) new that I want to try out. It is basically a mini in-game tournament with a scaling prize system depending on what round a player reaches.

 

For each round every player will receive the same three questions: One will be based on an Opening Weekend gross, one will be based on a weekend % drop and one will be based on a film's weekend PTA.

 

Every play will then be scored derby style (or at least similar) for each question before a final average score out of a maximum (and impossible) 100% is given. The highest scorers advance to the next round.

 

This SOTM will last for 6 rounds, that will go as follows:

 

Round 1: 7 groups of 5, 1 group of 4: top 3 from each group progress

Round 2: 8 groups of 3 (a winner, a 2nd and a 3rd in each group): top 2 progress

Round 3: Straight 1vs1 knockout 8 winners vs 8 2nd places: winners progress

Round 4: Quarter finals

Round 5: Semi Finals (5 questions)

Round 6: Final (7 Questions) 

 

Prize Structure: (All scores a cumulative)

 

Anyone who makes a prediction in round 1 scores 3000 points as an abstain equivalent

 

5th place in Round 1 Group: 0 points

4th place in Round 1 Group: 2000 points

3rd Place in Round 1 Group: 3000 points (plus progress to next round)

2nd Place in Round 1 Group: 4000 points (plus progress to next round)

1st Place in Round 1 Group: 5000 points (plus progress to next round)

Best Score of the whole round: 5000 bonus points

 

3rd Place in Round 2 Group: 0 points

2nd Place in Round 1 Group: 4000 points (plus progress to next round)

1st Place in Round 1 Group: 6000 points (plus progress to next round)

Best Score of the whole round: 5000 bonus points

 

Round 3 Losers: 0 points

Round 3 Winners: 8000 points

Best Score of the whole round: 3000 bonus points

 

Quarter Final Losers: 0 points

Quarter Final Winners: 10000 points

Best Score of the whole round: 3000 bonus points

 

Semi Final Losers: 0 points

Semi Final Winners: 15000 points

Best Score of the whole round: 3000 bonus points

 

Final Loser: 0 points

Final Winner: 20000 points

 

Due to the nature of this competition, this is one occasion when predictions are allowed to be either posted publically OR PMed to me. THERE IS NO EDITING OF ANSWERS ONCE POSTED OR SENT TO ME (UNLESS I SEE AN OBVIOUS TYPO e.g. PREDICTION CA:CW TO OPEN TO 19.54M or something.) ONCE A WHOLE GROUP HAS PREDICTED, I WILL POST THAT GROUP'S SET OF PREDICTION IN THIS THREAD.

 

Caveats:

 

In the case of players drawn against me, they are advised to PM JJ8 instead of me to keep the situation fair. If me and JJ8 find ourselves against each other, a 3rd neutral party will be called upon.

 

In the event that multiple people to do predict a round to the point that not enough players can qualify from a group, or both players in a 1 on 1 matchup fail to predict. The highest scoring loser will be advanced to the next round.  

 

The Deadline for each round will always be the Thursday midnight of each week starting with May 19th. The first round draw will be posted below in post two, with questions for Round 1 posted in Post 3.
