I guess you have been falling the box office that much this year. This year is all feast or famine. There are record-breaking films that are grossing billions of dollars or over 300 million dollars. But there's none of those smaller films that have done between 200 and 299 million dollars. Usually by this time of year there are around 5-8 of them. This year there are none.

Fantastic Beasts seems to be the best contender for 200-299M.

Moana is a good one too but it has a better shot at going above 299M than Fantastic Beasts.

Sing according to many is a great contender but I am pessimistic on it and feeling sub-200M.

BEN-HUR gets a better Tuesday bump than fellow opener KUBO. Didn't see that coming.

Well I find it strange that people are focusing on just 200M - 299M domestic for movies yet we still don't have a 500M grosser either.

200-299 moves are a lot more common than 500+ grossers.

There have been only 6 500+ movies in history, while there were 4 200-299 grossers in 2015 and 10 in 2014

Well don't you think $500m is harder to achieve than $200m? I mean come on DMan.  $400m is hard enough.

So is Fantastic Beasts a Harry Potter movie? Does have a big following like HP did?

As long as Sing doesn't have terrible reviews, and with them already running commercials and showing it at TIFF I think it is a really good indicator that they are proud of it, then it is going to be another monster like Secret Life of Pets.

I know kids already talking about and asking about the movie a heck of a lot more than Moana at this point.
