In the theater for Manchester by the Sea. I am one with the Tele demographic today

When I saw it, it was in a sold out theater full of senior citizens. Same thing happened when I saw Lion the other week. Then again, I do live in God's Waiting Room.

Holy shit, the entire full movie of The Great Wall (camrip from a Chinese theater) was uploaded to YouTube and it already has 125k views.  What the fuck.  I have a feeling it may effect box office in some way, especially since it's being recommended to me when I'm watching featurette's/anything related to the movie.

The Great Wall is gonna bomb no matter what (it really does look like shit) so I don't think it'll make too much of a difference.

Given that camrips have been available online since the movie came out would it really affect box office any more by being on Youtube?

Fun fact that I don't know if anyone has pointed out yet: La La Land is gonna become the highest-grossing Best Picture winner since Return of the King. BOOM!

not necessarily. It's likely but I don't think over 140 million domestic or 415 million WW is locked.

it's not locked though....

'Tis. It's gonna be over 105 after this weekend, over 115 after next weekend. Then there will be Valentine's Day, President's Day and the week after that it's gonna own the Oscar night. That'll give it more than enough fuel.

I decided to stop watching The Great Wall at the 20 minute mark because it has such a majestic grandeur that demands to be seen on the big screen. Plus, the promise of some Willem Dafoe ham was imminent. I will definitely be seeing this when it hits theaters.

Silence's PTA jumped by 167% compared to last Friday. Makes me think it could have actually crawled to 10m+ if it had a slow and steady theater count increase, and Paramount did their homework and focused on the markets where it had the biggest chance of finding an appreciative audience. Instead they just blew their load completely with the ridiculous 1,500 theaters increase last weekend.

For shame all around, child.

Damn, La La Land has a real shot at $150m+ domestic, as do Split and Hidden Figures. This month is looking like a good one for fans of quality original filmmaking (and a terrible one for fans of the Underworld, Resident Evil, and XXX franchises).

Considering the blitz of media hatred, $18m-$19m for Dog's Purpose isn't bad at all. It won't hit $100m like it may have a few weeks ago, but something like $80m domestic isn't out of the question, which would be great on such a small budget.

Resident Evil's debut sucks, by the way, but overseas is such a driving factor in the franchise that it's not disastrous. Should be at like $70m worldwide by the end of the weekend, which on a $40m budget will likely turn a profit eventually.

Weinstein is a disaster. I can't imagine them not going under pretty soon.
