These numbers wouldn't be happening without Watson. Fucking incredible.

I dunno. BatB is one of the most popular animated movies of all time and the timing is perfect with Generation X having young kids of their own.

150+ m OW was always very likely.

Some of you guys are talking about the Lion King and The Little Mermaid in terms of live action Disney remakes.

Im betting all my money on Frozen being the biggest of them all. That's when they inevitably announce a live action remake of it.

Queen Elsa for the win elsa_frozen_810_500_55_s_c1.jpg

Yeah but that was in friggin 2013. I can see why people want live action remakes from handdrawn animated classics which are 20+ years old but remakes of the CG-animated ones? Hell no. That would come off as extra cheap.

I said the same thing a while back and about 3 posters immediately jumped in and called me a wacko- Disney hater. Hope that doesn't happen to you, LOL.

You just need to expand your mind.

(Slowly pulls out brainwashing gear)

Lol @ Please don't post pokemon porn.

At some point, we really should consider banning gifs in the big weekend threads (at least until Sunday).  We all know its all "thanks bait", hell I've been guilty of it a million times, but at some point it all just starts becoming spam.  Instead of talking about boxoffice, everyone's racing to imgur or tumbler to post a gif replying to another gif and so on.

Yeah, I'm getting old. Not as old as baumer or tele, but old enough.

The first 70 pages of shitposting had alot of spam but also plenty of laugh out loud moments.

It's easy enough to avoid and "only" read the last 170 pages if you hate gif humor.

Yeah when this happens, I'll hate it more than WrathOfHan hated Rogue One and ThatOneGuy hated Beauty and The Beast (2017)

The Lion King will probably be one of the few "live-action" (well photoreal-CGI) movies out there that will be safe from the "if there are no humans, why would anyone want to see it" idea.

I still think it could limit the potential DOM gross tho.

Yeah, let's wait at least 15 years before we start talking about a live-action Frozen.

Of course Disney will wait 15 years for this. That way they'll have three generations of movie goers lined up. $1B domestic confirmed!

Just now, The Futurist said:

Daisy Ridley, Felicity Jones & Emma Watson are the biggest draws of modern box office as far as actresses are concerned no doubt.

You couldn't even say this with a straight face if you tried.

Oh it was going to do well but would it have  a chance of breaking records? Disney atm is the only one that knows. Deadline reported that a 3rd of the ga is seeing it for her.

Nope, if BnB opens at around $170m DOM, I'd say $300m is a "lock", but nothing more in terms of intervals of $100m. Remember, BvS opened in similar territory and finished at around $330m.

And if you think that's a crazy outlier, remember that CACW opened at $180m and yet despite rave reviews just creeped over $400m DOM.

IOW's, while $400m would be likely for BnB, it wouldn't be a lock, so $500m even less so.
