I don't remember any playlists in 2.0. Yeah, you did descriptions but a playlist with actual score cues?

(i don't like it)

There were a lot of songs I listened to that helped inspire certain scenes in Odyssey 3, so I gotta give credit where credit is due.

Plus it’s kinda fun to do.

Infinite Studios is taking note from its Endless Animation brethren and attaching a short to The Family Guy Movie: #franchisegoals. The short itself is a Pop Team Epic short, titled Pipimi and Popuko vs. Hollywood Volume 1, where after the titular two find out they’re in a short go on a rampage through Hollywood.

PILLARS OF ETERNITY: THE HOLLOW VALE OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK

Original Music by Patrick Doyle

Spoiler

1. Waidwen’s Legacy – 4:02 (The music for the opening narration sequence is ghostly and ethereal in the background, with an ominous and heavenly undertone to it. The music spikes as we see the warring actions unfold, and then creeps into an air of gloom as the Hollowborn are made known. There is a motif for Waidwen, being derived from choral vocalizing that has variations that are both inspiring and full of dread)

2. The Ruins of Cilant Lis – 3:21 (The music is atmospheric and ominous, low strings and woodwinds providing an air of caution. The music then shits into soft vocalizing and strings as the ceremony unfolds, slowly cascading into louder and louder variations as percussion and drums come into play until it ends in a sudden flourish)

3. Wizard and Farmer – 3:48 (This track conveys Eder’s theme and Aloth’s theme in its two halves. Eder’s theme is almost pastoral in nature, but with a military edge to it that has a sense of lost pride and regret. Aloth’s theme has a Celtic flair to it, with a background of bagpipes and other instruments of that culture. It has a mystical flair, but with a hard edge to it)

4. Seen Beyond the Shroud – 3:05 (This track has a ghostly air to it, soft vocalizing and strings providing the undertone. It is in this track that Sarana’s theme, which we had gotten bits of previously, starts to come into its own. It is a bit wild and a bit nautical in nature, given her origin from the Deadfire Archipelago, but there is a resolve to it. The track also introduces the general Watcher theme, which is sad but proud mystical cue)

5. Lord of a Barren Land – 4:56 (This track introduces us to the big players at Raedric’s castle. There is an overall gloomy air to the music, with deep strings and percussion. Raedric’s theme is a proud and imposing martial cue with a sickly underbelly to it. We also get a cue for the deity Berath introduced, which has an air of dispassionate finality to it. Keen listeners will also detect a hit of Waidwen’s motif playing when Lady Raedric is introduced)

6. Eder and Aufra – 2:43 (The romance theme for Eder and Aufra. It is a sweet and sentimental tune that plays on the rustic setting and the sad origins of their connection, with mellow strings and woodwinds being the primary force)

7. The Old Watcher – 5:28 (This track features the introduction of Kana’s theme, which is an upbeat tune based on woodwinds like oboes and bassoons. We also get a cue for Caed Nua, which is a gloomy tune of a once proud place whose best years have passed by. When we meet Maerwald, we get a remix of the Watcher cue, but it is fractured and fragmented like his psyche)

8. The Temple of Eothas – 7:10 (This track is ambient and atmospheric at first, with slight appearances of Eder’s theme, until we get our first appearance of the Helpful Spirit theme, which is playful and mischievous, yet otherworldly. The music then returns to atmospheric until there is a slight dueling of wills between Eder’s theme and Waidwen’s theme, which at this point we realize is more of a general theme for followers of the god Eothas. After that the music starts to spike upward in intensity as the undead monsters invade the temple and are beaten, ending in an imposing repeat of Raedric’s theme as many of the followers are captured)

9. He is Our Son – 2:11 (A short track featuring Raedric’s theme heavily, in both a sad variation as well as a vengeful one as tragedy befalls his family. It ends on a dark note, as Raedric’s theme grows more infected by influence from the merciless aspects of the cue for Berath)

10. Raid in the Night – 6:29 (The track starts off with frantic action music as Caed Nua is under surprise attack, and as the fight moves outside and inside the keep we get flourishes of the themes of various main characters as they fight off the invaders. The music then cuts to sudden low tension as Sarana confronts Urgeat and her theme simmers in the background as we get Urgeat’s motif, sinister with sharp and violent strings, in the fore. The track then ramps back up into action music as the two fight, until it finally trails off)

11. Farewell to Maerwald – 2:45 (A sad and emotional track that uses variations of Sarana’s theme and the Watcher theme to echo the loss of Maerwald and Sarana’s grief, as well as her slowly rising fury)

12. I’m Here Tonight – 3:44 (The first half of the track is energetic, with the hustle and bustle of Gilded Vale preparing for war. The second half is softer and mellower, with strings dominating, until it ramps up into a heavy outpouring of Eder and Aufra’s love theme)

13. The Battle for Gilded Vale – 11:42 (The track is a clash of almost all of the various character themes within a frenzy of action music, starting with the tense and simmering confrontation outside the walls, to the sharp explosions of music as the siege weapons fire and are then taken out, to the general, almost unstoppable wave of men assaulting the town, the tension and dramatic cues ramping up and up, resulting in a climax of thunderous eruption as Kana’s trap is activated. The music then slowly winds down with celebratory cues, and then ends in a rendition of Raedric’s theme, defeated, sicker, but even more resolved, before trailing off)

14. Death’s Champion – 5:32 (The track covers the intercutting climax in Raedric’s castle, rapidly shifting action beats and flourishes of character cues as we go back and forth between the characters fighting for their lives. Raedric’s theme, in its fully corrupted glory, is the elephant in the room, dominating everything else, until the Watcher cue appears in the background, slowly pushing its way to the fore until in an action flourish the track suddenly closes)

15. Raedric’s Reckoning – 3:40 (The track is much more quiet compared to the previous ones, more of a drama and emotional set of music as we see Raedric’s theme slowly revert to its original state, though in a sad state. Sarana’s theme and the Watcher theme also heavily feature, as they slowly coax Raedric’s theme into shedding the infection. The track then ends with a dramatic flourish as we hear Raedric’s theme for the first time in a triumphant gesture, until it is cut short. There is soft incidental music trailing off to close the track out)

16. Wael – 3:07 (The track for this is very ambient and ethereal in the background as Sarana is taken into the Beyond to have her face-to-face with Wael. The Helpful Spirit theme from before is featured heavily here, in various forms, shifting around to keep the listener off balance, and it is clear that it is really Wael’s theme. The track ends with a close of the ambience and etherealness as Sarana is returned to the world, and we get a pensive rendition of the Watcher theme)

17. Room for One More? – 4:46 (This is a track that starts slow but slowly builds, with usage of all the various character themes, including Eder’s with a triumphant flourish as he shows up to join the group. It is upbeat and optimistic and slowly builds to a positive crescendo featuring Sarana’s theme heavily as the heroes set out from Caed Nua to start the next leg of their journey)

18. Leaden Key and End Credits – 9:43 (The track starts off with very ominous and dark music, soft vocalizing in the background, slowly ramping up as we get the first appearance of the Grandmaster’s theme, which is heavily dominated with choral chanting amidst strings and percussion beats. The music rises to a spike, and then cuts into the end credit suite for the film, which draws on a few of the biggest themes of the score during the end credits)
