Rorschach
The Odyssey: The Counsel of the Dead - Official Soundtrack The many themes and leitmotifs from the first film carry over into the second film, along with some new ones for the new characters as well. The score in this film is much darker than the previous film. Some tracks feel like they are straight out of a horror film. From the Laestrygonian attack on the ships to the land of the dead to the sirens, etc., the film’s soundtrack is definitely creepier in comparison to the first film. That being said, the film still retains a lot of peaceful innocence found in most of the Ithaca scenes, a contrast against Odysseus and his crew’s harrowing adventures. Some references from other film soundtracks were used for inspiration. 1. Whispers 2. The Future Ahead 3. Unwelcome Guests (#1) 4. A Requiem of Earth and Water (basically the whole one-shot scene with Elpenor and the captain’s death) (#2) 5. Never Back Down 6. Black Hole (#3) 7. Pig Hunt 8. Circe’s Palace 9. The Suitors 10. Five Days, Five Years 11. Fight Club 12. Old Ghost (Laertes’s theme) (#7) 13. The Cave Beckons (#4) 14. Land of the Dead (#5) 15. Death Comes to Us All 16. Restless Spirits (#6) 17. Like Father, Like Son (Telemachus’s Theme) 18. Godly Grievances 19. The Sirens 20. No Challenge Too Hard 21. The Storm Rises 22. No Mercy 23. Drifting 24. Safe Haven 25. Triad Sunset 26. “In The Name of the Father” by Kaleo (#8) Below is a list of songs that indirectly went with/inspired the scenes in the following: #1 Spoiler 1:40-2:05 The whole song gave me a visual sense of the scene but the last 25 seconds reminded me of the buildup to when all the rocks were thrown at the ship. #2 Spoiler I just think this song would fit very well in that scene. Its creepy as fuck and the tension alongside it when all the men are being picked off one by one just screams perfect to me. #3 Spoiler 0:27-1:28 This just reminded me of the build-up in Odysseus's dream where he is exploring the dark cave and is swallowed giant mouth. #4 Spoiler 2:07-2:53 Basically reminded me of the sequence of the soldier being dragged underwater by the spirits, him trying to fight them off but he is sucked further and further into the dark abyss below him. #5 Spoiler ~First two minutes I envisioned the Land of the Dead to have a creepy feel to it, with a dark men's choir in the score trying to set that otherworldly feel. #6 Spoiler 2:41-3:11 Not the entire piece of 'No Mercy'. Just Sinon's death. #7 Spoiler 0:46-1:41 Laertes's theme and the final Triad sunset with the three family members indirectly looking at one another. Spoiler #8 Spoiler Pretty much yeah...
