An extremely violent and extremely dumb exercise in Jingoistic White Male Revenge Wish Fulfillment that feels like a retread of a million other movies while taking itself way too seriously. It's the kind of film that evaporates from the memory the minute the lights come up in the theater. Not helping matters is a weak performance from its lead actor: I've enjoyed Dylan O'Brien in previous projects but he's completely miscast here. Aside from Michael Keaton (excellent at elevating even the most lousy material, as always), no one else in the movie registers, with poor Taylor Kitsch getting saddled with a generic wild-eyed villain who might as well had stepped out of a cartoon. And that does not even go fully with it (could have been interesting to really be about that), using the easiest option of having the main villain be a white male american also, trying to have their cake and eat it too.

They do it with every character also (Boutella character is a traitor and a hero also and so on).

Same for the nuclear explosion, want it to be nuclear but do not want the radiation to be an real issue to manage in the movie

I think Dylan is a star on the rise, and this formulatic action film for adults not just teens is an excellent start. It is well done but it crosses the line on believably a few points. and yes it feels like a Hollywood response to attitudes on multiculturalism. MKeaton is fine in this role but too much time goes to getting to know the other recruits. Even when they are exposed or double agents or whatever the film throws at us, they are disposable plot movers that didn't require sidetracking the viewers with their side. Keep the pov on our lead and how he reacts to these developments is best.
