MODERATION:   Since we have like 3500 MCU threads, I’m just gonna post this here in hopes that everyone sees it, so that I don’t have to post it like 3500 times individually and spam all the threads:   When you’re talking about the MCU, please make sure that you’re talking specifically about that title in that thread. I.e; Dr Strange Thread is for Dr Strange.    And if you want to reference any other property, especially if it isn’t out yet, please use the spoiler t

I still haven't gotten the update somehow, but my story view count has definitely taken a hit. That's what irks me the most. I'm like how am I supposed to show off now?

Too early to say, but they are not making great business decisions. Like politicians putting party over people, they've definitely put shareholders over loyal users, and people have clearly noticed. No one is still going to click the discovery shit. And it doesn't help that Instagram stories is a serviceable alternative.

 

While the update has gotten overwhelmingly negative responses, they've put a little band aid on it by giving people text customization and more sleek bitmoji options. Plus their last quarter stock numbers were good, but imo it won't last. They're already trying to bribe advertisers to leave IG and come to them. People still mainly use Snap for sending to friends and sending to stories. If they don't at least make it easier, they're definitely gonna go by the wayside. 

It'll be real interesting to see what happens when V2 launches.

Before the update, it was actually quite straightfoward to use, but it's definitely not something that would catch on outside millennials and gen z.

 

2012: You could only send 10 second videos to friends, that's basically it

2013: You could do that plus post 10 second "stories" that all your friends could view for 24 hours

2014: You could do that and now add "geofilters" to your videos, aka colorful curly stickers that let people know what city you're in and they're not

2015: You could do that and now you could "discover" tabloids and news articles, aka ADS and Kardashian propoganda

2016: You could do that and now set your videos to play longer than 10 seconds

2017: You could do that and now view other peoples "stories" all over the world on the Map

2018: You can't really do any of that because Snapchat has gone public and new shareholders want more revenue, so now it's basically now a tabloid and "millennial news" app aka ads and Kardashian propoganda.

2019: Skynet
