The fact that there are critics saying "capture the spirit of the book" and others disagreeing in almost equal numbers tells me that it'll be a movie for the audience to decide where they stand. I, myself have not read the book and so to me, it just looks like a very colourful, crazy picture. It's not like they are all agreeing that it sucks in some way or another.

Hopefully the Project X number rises as I(being 17, and the target audience) liked it.

It does, but so did the 6m early estimate. Which means great jump for PX and it's gonna fall from here on I think.
