Weekend Thread: Rampage 34.5M, AQP 32.6M, ToD 19M, RPO 11.2M, Blockers 10.2M

WB is completely stupid for not marketing Crazy Rich Asians whatsoever yet. Unless they know the movie is a real stinker, it seems like it would have a lot of breakout potential. They desperately need that and Oceans 8 to breakout this summer. Otherwise The Nun and Fantastic Beasts may be their only real success stories this year.

Considering it's the same director as G.I. Joe 2, Jem and the Holograms, and all of those Justin Bieber documentaries...

Can’t see why RPO would drop so much after it held so well last week. Bet it goes up

It lost IMAX and other premium formats to Rampage this weekend. That usually leads to bigger drops.

The Rock's overexposure hurting Rampage, Jumanji still in cinemas

Probably a little bit, like it probably did for 2016 Tom Hanks, people choosing Sully to get their America Dad fix, Inferno opening just a month later doing quite poorly for a 5m sales book:

10/28/16 Inferno Sony $34,343,574 3,576 $14,860,425 3,576 35
9/9/16 Sully WB $125,070,033 3,955 $35,028,301 3,525 14
4/22/16 A Hologram for the King RAtt. $4,212,494 523 $1,138,578 401 46

RPO is actually hanging around to a few morning IMAX shows around Orlando. IDK what other cities have it doing.

I was referring to this bit of the DHD article:

Who also gets hurt here? Warner Bros./Village Roadshow’s Ready Player One which had all those Imax theaters and now has to hand them over to Rampage.

Maybe Orlando is an outlier?

Emily Blunt is officially a bigger draw than The Rock. You heard it here first!

A Quiet Place is a feather in Blunt's cap, but it going to Mary Poppins that will make  her Top Level A list
