The Michael B. Jordan legal drama Just Mercy, which WB acquired from Broad Green Pictures, will be released January 1, 2020. Directed by Daniel Cretton, the film is an adaptation of Equal Justice Initiative founder Bryan Stevenson’s 2014 memoir on his first case, Walter McMillian, a young black man sentenced to death for a crime he didn’t commit. Despite his airtight alibi, McMillian was convicted spent six years on death row before being exonerated.

I actually read the memoir this is based on, so I'm very excited to see how this turns out.

Not...directed by Coogler. Huh. Well, sounds like another reminder of how unfair America is to black people, and I'm excited to see it.

You have to wonder if Warner Bros will move it up if there is any sort of awards buzz, I imagine a limited release in December then wide in January.

I recall hearing about a similar project to be helmed by Mr. Coogler. Something else? I'm assuming he will direct Black Panther 2.

Wrong Answer, maybe?

Ha, I remembered because someone asked Trailer Track about it recently, and he said it didn't have a distributor yet.
