Intouchables OS - 409.0m!

Recommended Posts

It's just a very good film, touching and moving and funny with lot of laughs, non-pc-humor and everything in good measure and with perfect timing. Think of a cross between "Driving Miss Daisy" and "Rush Hour". It really pleases all kind of audiences, this drew many seniors into theaters who watch maybe one film a year, like last year's "Kings Speech". And the 260 million from the topic were last week's number btw; it should have crossed 265 this weekend.

You can't deny, the french are unquestionably the european kings of making stuff that appeals to everyone in their country atm. This and the other one from a couple of years ago reasonated like nothing comparable outside of asia. And Intouchables is doing even better by bagging places like Germany too.

It seems to be complicated since the Weinsteins bought the rights to do a remake:http://www.reuters.c...E7676V520110708Since they also own distributing rights for USA, Australia and other countries it could be possible the flick won't be distributed wide in those countries or not at all -- and they just remake it.Like Three Men and a Baby years ago.

European local comedies often dominate the charts. Something like Der Schuh des Manitu in Germany was on a level with the first Potter or LOTR.But only the french seem to be able to make "french" comedies that also are big in other countries. No wonder somehow since they have a strong movie industry and Hollywoods market share is just 50%.

A dub would bring in more money as the majority of the audience would rather watch dubs than subs. It's just the way it is.

I don't think English dubs are that popular. If anything it'll be how pinocchio suggests; a limited sub release and a remake later on.
