Lowest $100 million films since 2005 or 2006?

2012 - 17 (ON PAR)

2011 - 21 (UNDER)

2010 - 16 (OVER)

2009 - 17 (ON PAR)

2008 - 16 (OVER)

2007 - 18 (UNDER)

2006 - 11 (OVER)

So, I guess you could say its the lowest since 2012 which was the same number at 17

We can now welcome The Lion King in the $200 million club now!

So far in 2019, we have only had six films make it to that mark! Identical to 2018 at the same point. 2017 and 2016 were both seven. 2015 was at five, 2014 was at six, and 2013 was at 7-8 films I believe(unless World War Z didn’t have the boost yet).

2012 had only two months that releases missed the $100 million(January and April). 2019 so far has zero months miss $100 million titles yet.

Maybe it'll be a record for $200M (13 - 2012, 2017, 2014, 2016), $300M (9 - 2016), $400M (4 - 2017, 2018) or $500M (3 - 2018) films?

$400M FILMS

1. Captain Marvel - April 21

2. Avengers: Endgame - April 30

3. Toy Story 4 - July 31

4. The Lion King - August 2

5 or more $400m films is a 99.99999999999+% certainty at this point.  If Frozen 2 doesn't hit 400m, then TROS will.  That's 5, possibly 6 400m+ films.

Quote

$500M FILMS

1. Avengers: Endgame - May 3

2) TLK is a certainty.

3) TROS is a 97+% chance, IMO.  If I am objective, I have to allow for the "Teh haterz are right" scenario.  3% sounds good to me.

4) Frozen 2 has a good shot, if everything goes right.  But, again objectivity.  So let's call it 25% to 40% chance for now.

If both TROS and Frozen 2 hit, that sets a record.

6. The Lion King - July 22

This one is a lot more uncertain, sadly.

7) It 2

8 ) Joker

9) Frozen 2

10) Jumanji 2: The Next Level

11) Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Are the obvious candidates (though Joker isn't assured of hitting 200m).  Need to get three breakout hits somewhere along the line.

Both 100% certainty for Frozen 2 and TROS.  Could happen somewhere in the other three $200m candidates if any of them breakout.  Still need two out of three, though.  Not as sure on this one, but perhaps better odds than the $200m.

As for four 600m films, that's pretty much dead now with TLK coming in the 500m range somewhere.  Even if both TROS and Frozen 2 smash it out of the park, that still only ties the record (2018 - 3).  And at some point Frozen 2 and TROS start to eat into each other.

...

*looks at sig*

Never have been two 700m films in a year before, you know.
