Agafin
Saw this on reddit. Since this is coming from Nintendo themselves, this is as close to an actual as is possible. Mario sold 168.1m tickets on a box office of $1.349b for a global ATP of $8.02. Edited August 3, 2023 by Agafin

HummingLemon496
Related - Avengers: Endgame sold ~34.7M admissions on opening weekend (according to u/AgentCooper315), which is the highest of all time. Will this record ever get broken? That would require like a ~$450M+ weekend or something now 💀 Edited December 31, 2023 by HummingLemon496

I wonder how many admissions Avatar 2 did on OW And unrelated but it's also kinda sad how GOTG 3 OW admissions are roughly equal to GOTG 1 and ~65% of GOTG 2. And in total admissions it's only ~85% of GOTG 1 and ~75% of GOTG 2. Edited January 1 by HummingLemon496
HummingLemon496
I am the Oracle. I can answer any question you ask Why is Star Wars: The Last Jedi considered an underperformance domestically but not Avatar: The Way of Water even though both dropped around 35% in admissions from their predecessor? Any question but that Edited February 6 by HummingLemon496

I mean, that but literally not sarcastically. This is more "random guy who clearly has spent time with this type of stuff has a good faith stab at an estimate" than "I saw a guy in the comment section spitting out a hot take" (even if both are "I saw on reddit" things). To me at least, I'd say he meets the bar of minimal viability to want to understand differences between random people on internet with estimates but also not trying to argue you'd be compelled to. I might poke around to see what's causing the difference.
