efialtes76
I wonder how that $2.3m for TPM compares with it's opening day back in '99?OW(1999):£9,512,295($15.36m)! (1999)1dollar=0.6184 pounds Edited February 13, 2012 by efialtes76
SchumacherFTW
So it's safe to say TPM had a bigger OD in '99 than an opening weekend in 2012. Mahoosive take there.
Heretic
Wow...never knew it was so big back in the day. That would probably adjust to near £15m now...or higher. And without any gimmicks or IMAX etc.

Jonwo
The Muppets did well, it wasn't too far behind WIB, should do well this week. The Vow did okay but I expect it'll have good weekdays and do strong business Valentines Day.
SchumacherFTW
Muppets this afternoon was packed when I saw it today. They had chairs set up at the back it was so busy. TPM only had about 30 people in it though, but I blame that it was an 11am show.

SchumacherFTW
They are. Tomorrow will be packed as its valentines, and wednesday during half term is fucking vile to be around sometimes.
Jonwo
The Vow should do well on Valentine's Day as should The Woman in Black. Will be interesting how the This Means War previews do although they won't be counted until the film's released in two weeks They are. Tomorrow will be packed as its valentines, and wednesday during half term is fucking vile to be around sometimes..I never go to the cinema on Wednesdays simply because its too busy unless there's a film I really want to see. The Dark Alfred
Muppets will win next weekend. WIB will grab #2. New openers: GR2 £1.2m, Extremely Loud $0.7m
Jonwo
Looking at the upcoming new releases, I think March is going to be a busy month. John Carter should debut well £3-4 OW, The Hunger Games £3-4m OW perhaps higher, The Pirates! should be a hit over the Easter Holiday given it's pretty much the only kids film at Easter, £4-5m five days and Wrath of the Titans should do well £5-6m OW. There's also Streetdance 2 but I can't see that doing well as the competition is much tougher this time and also 21 Jump Street which should do okay. CJohn
I don't understand why isn't The Lorax being released at Easter in the UK.
CJohn
Lets not forget StreetDance 3D won against Prince of Persia.
Heretic
The Hunger Games could be pretty big here. There are always gasps when I see the trailer with movies. I could easily see over £6m for opening weekend.
