PhilipJ2001
This Means War is doing really badly at my place. Like half the business of Woman In Black so far this weekend
Heretic
Another repeat at number 1 seems likely. Pretty amazing.
Jonwo
TMW isn't great, I still Universal missed a trick not scheduling The Lorax day and date as the US as it would have easily done over £2m. I imagine Wanderlust did poorly as well. Think Safe House and OBEMH will have small drops.
CJohn
TWM actually surprised over here. People were expecting it to tank and in the end it did pretty much the same as War Horse. The Lorax should have opened in the UK in the beginning of the Easter holidays, at March 23rd. Jonwo
23rd March would have meant facing the Hunger Games. My theory is that Universal didn't want to compete with The Pirates! It's not going to do as well in the summer especially with Ice Age in July and Brave in August.Contraband seems to be getting a lot of advertising as is Hunger Games, there hasn't been any for either John Carter or 21 Jump Street. Wrath of the Titans and Pirates! I imagine we'll see ads within the next week or two.
CJohn
The Lorax is also facing THG here... I think the problem may have been The Pirates! like you said.
PhilipJ2001
Marigold Hotel up 7% was number 1 with about £2.4mThis Means War number 3 with £1.8mso i assume Woman In Black is between the two.
Heretic
Really? Wow that's great. And another small drop for WIB it seems. It just won't die. The UK BO is doing fantastically atm. Should continue with THG coming up.
fmpro
Great weekend in the UK again..Next few weeks should be great too
Jonwo
TBEMH is really good and yet another British film success. TMW is slightly skewed by previews but I imagine not by much. John Carter next week, I think £2-3m OW, if TBEMH continues to do well, it may prove an upset.
The Hand of Illumination
2-3 million would be absolutely terrible. So I guess everyone including foreigners are banking on this to do bad business worldwide.
CJohn
Disney movies never do much in the UK. PoP and SA tanked there.
Heretic
Disney movies do well...it's just the ones that don't appeal to the mass/aren't marketed well that flop...
CJohn
PoP and SA did well OS.
Heretic
POP didn't really do that well in Europe though. The UK reflected the disappointing US run.
SchumacherFTW
POP didn't really do that well in Europe though. The UK reflected the disappointing US run. And never managed to crack the number one spot thanks to Streetdance 3D.
