UK Box Office Thread

It's not that surprising. TGM was a popcorn blockbuster that most people wanted to see in multiplexes. Some boutique chains didn't even pick it up until the stunning WoM started to spread. BARBIE has a more universal appeal and brought OP to the party as a plus one lol

At the Irish box office, Barbie has quickly become the largest box office opening of the year, bringing in €2,098,132 over the weekend of June 21st-23rd, 2023. The other big release of the weekend (and the second-half of the viral fanmade double billing dubbed ‘Barbenheimer’) is Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which made €1,134,635 domestically.

Dunkirk vs Oppy

Weekend - 10.02 / 10.89
Wkdays 1 - 8.75 / 8.5+

Weekend 2 - 8.23
Wkdays 2 - 6.55

Weekend 3 - 4.62
Wkdays 3 - 3.97

Weekend 4 - 2.63
Wkdays 4 - 2.37

No big competition for Dunkirk in 2nd weekend, so Oppy may be do like 8-8.5 ish as well. Runtime could be making it bigger weekend play.

If Barbie follows it, well then 15M 2nd weekend :P

Oppy seems like will be 7.75-8 and Barbie 12.75 ish.

If they follow Dunkirk will lead to 55M and 94M final. 🫣

Probably 50M+ and 85-90M be target for Barbie.

Actually these two are reporting admissions via numero. Other two aren't.

Didn't you earlier mentioned that it's based on Gross/ATP (Average Ticket Price). Would be amazing if those admission numbers are reported in open source

Sat Barbara £4.6m, Robert £3.1m

Incredible for both again, but especially Opp’s Saturday bump. Both films looking at around 30% drops from last weekend which is insane after their monster weekdays. The latter could be less than 30% if Sunday is very strong.

Pretty unbelievable for both. Their performance here might be the most impressive in any major market.

Barbie could well make a run for the top 10 all time, and Oppy for top 30 of all time (if it keeps pace with Dunkirk)

Barbie being WB's biggest film ever in the UK is looking like a possibility. That list is mostly Harry Potter and Batman.

Does anyone if Sony has shifted Gran Turismo like it has in the US? The fact there's been no marketing in terms of posters does make think they've delayed. WB has already put posters for Blue Beetle.

I'm sure I've seen a few bits around, but can't be certain

Edit: Launching films still has it down as August 11th

I've only seen posters for Meg 2, Joy Ride and Blue Beetle out and about.
