These are being done to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary.

Tbh, I'm surprised Disney hasn't tried another large re-release of Lion King just to push it past $1b like Universal did with Jurassic Park. Maybe for the 30th anniversary next year.

Basically it sold 94.2% of what Thor 4 had sold at equivalent(T-27) point. Marvel mega sequels storm out of the gate at Drafthouse and the fact that Barbie is so close is crazy strong :-) 

 

That said it could be due to goodies offered by the chain for buying the tickets. Why dont AMC offer NFT based on Barbie and tickets sales would explode :-)
