Onri
Official studio estimates http://www.kinobusiness.com/news/kassa-uik-enda-7-10-aprelya-2016-onlayn/ 547M rubles OW for The Jungle Book (8.08M$). More than BvS 530M opening. Impressive. TJB should have at least 2.1-2.2 multiplier. While BvS collapsing hard and may fall short of 1.6 multiplier. fastclock
Zootopia is still at no.3 with 2.215 billion rubles. At current rate, that's about 32-33 million USD. So, why is zootopia so popular in Russia?
Onri
1 hour ago, fastclock said: So, why is zootopia so popular in Russia? Hard to say. Main reason is of course that everybody loved it. Not only kids, but adults too. Zootopia's first teaser with sloths became viral. It was exactly how work in russian post office looks like But that was few months before release. I think Zootopia could be even bigger if that teaser became really popular a bit later. Previews were big but rather quiet. But it's official opening was just in time. 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th days of release were holidays. And they were really huge. Only for those 4 days Zootopia got around 880M rubles - about entire run of Big hero 6. And more than entire run of BvS btw On that base WOM began to work. First drop was only 41%. Then was really incredible for third weekend 33% drop with no holidays to help. Usually 3rd week drops are about 70% because of losing showtimes. Then were 2 more great holds of 30% and 37% with bigger weekdays influenced by school holidays in different regions. On it's way to №2 alltime Zootopia destroyed local toon which was meant to lead school holidays. Zootopia is getting really close to 4 multiplier, while only 1 or 2 wide releases made it to 3 in 2015. Theaters did their job right too. They were (and still are) not only keeping Zootopia on board but trying to give it good showtimes especially on weekdays. There are many 2D showtimes and prices are really good actually. And it works, as Zootopia stay №2 for all weekends beginning from 3rd (losing only to Avatar) while is had #17 4-day OW and #11 second weekend. Also I need to mention Inside out. It was breakthrough becoming top Pixar and #2 Disney toon despite being a little boring for Russia. I think it helped Zootopia too. Now Zootopia more than doubled any other Pixar or Disney animation in Russia (Frozen had 1.1B rubles). Onri
Rough weekend predictions: TJB 4.1-4.4M$ THWW 1.9-2.2M$ (less than 5th wave in rubles) BvS won't make it to top70 alltime with (then) #24 OW. TJB will easily pass it this weekend.
juni78ukr
Very strong Saturday for The Jungle Book. Only 38% week-to-week drop by early estimates.

fastclock
From THR: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/russia-box-office-hollywood-local-884715 In 2015, Russian movies accounted for only 17.3 percent of the total box office in the country, while Hollywood releases accounted for the lion's share of the rest. This year, Russian films are expected to take a 20 percent share, according to forecasts from Neva Research, a leading Russian analytics company for the movie sector. That would be the best performance by local films since 2008. Russia cinema's gain, however, is unlikely to mean much pain for Hollywood. Neva predicts Russian films will steal audiences from European titles and smaller independent U.S. movies, not big studio tentpoles. The company said couldn't say how the overall increase in ticket sales for Russia movies would impact the projected box office for specific titles, genres or studios. .. In 2015, Russia's total box-office gross reached 48 billion rubles ($768 million), and, due to devaluation of the national currency, the ruble, it failed to hit the $1 billion mark for the first time since 2010. Onri
Official thursday numbers. http://www.kinobusiness.com/news/kassa-za-chetverg-21-04-2016-onlayn/ Second hold will be not as good as first one for The Jungle Book. Maleficent and 1306M rubles looks like goal for TJB now. The Huntsman Winter's War loses 71%. Not good of course, but could be much worst. Nice hold for Criminal. Great for Zootopia. If this number holds it can move one spot up to #6 Edited April 22, 2016 by Onri
Onri
Criminal pulled out of theaters due to license problem. It's a scandal actually. Still not everything clear, but looks like a mistake in distributor's paperwork. Not all stipulations for distribution were implemented so prior theater run is called illegal as for now. Everything's ok with movie itself anyway. With Criminal out, Zootopia looks like back to top5 on it's 8th weekend. Before that (outside of Avatar's 11 weeks in top5) record was 7th weekend in top 5 held buy local hit The Irony of Fate: Сontinuation (which was #2 admission before Zootopia). They both will have 7 weekends in top5 with Zootopia's 7th place on 7th weekend. At least 9 more movies stayed in top5 for 6 weekends. Local film Crew had strong friday and saturday increases. It is on track to 7M$ opening. Edited April 24, 2016 by Onri
juni78ukr
Official weekend estimates. Very good start for Russian drama crew. The Jungle Book dropped by 55% with 17.4 mln total. Zootopia returned to Top5 with only 30% drop. http://www.kinobusiness.com/news/kassa-uik-enda-21-24-aprelya-2016-onlayn/
juni78ukr
Thursday numbers. Russian movie The Crew will easily win another weekend. The Jungle Book most likely will finish second. Mother's day did mediocre, not bad for Before I Wake. Local animated movie Wolves and Sheep bombed. http://www.kinobusiness.com/news/kassa-chetverga-28-04-2016-onlayn/

If Zootopia is released before Ruble massive crash against the US, it would have made much more than what it does today. Look at that crazy US-RUB ER chart.
