EXCLUSIVE: 20th Century Studios is in development on The First Omena prequel to the original 1976 Fox movie The Omenwith Legion and Briarpatch episodic director Arkasha Stevenson making her feature directorial debut.

Stevenson will also handle the rewrite, alongside writing partner Tim Smith. Smith is set to executive produce with Phantom Four producing. The original movie, a hit in its day which grossed over $60M at the domestic box office (unadjusted for inflation) and starred Gregory Peck, Lee Remick and Harvey Stephens, follows an American ambassador who believes his five-year-old son is the Antichrist.

Ooh interesting! Always thought this was for Hulu.

Probably got promoted to a theatrical release ala The Boogeyman due to the schedule clearing up and Disney's next scheduled movie after December not being until Memorial Day weekend.

Ooh its R rated, nice.

Hopefully Fox continue the push with the advertising. Both posters are cool.

Iger has been droppping a lot of hints that Disney will be getting back in the R rated movie business, using the Fox Labels to keep the Disney label family friendly. Smae thing Disney did in the 90's and early 2000's with the Touchstone and Hollywood movie labels.
