IndustriousAngel
I do expect much from The Hobbit, but few posters seem to realize how much of the LotR-admissions were repeat viewings. The Hobbit may or may not become 2012s nr1-film but that depends on quality - not only quality of the film but also of the material which may be the bigger problem. But I do expect at least 8mil admissions (nr.2) and maybe even 9mil which would put it at nr.
pinocchio
Jackson just lost all of his credibility when he announced the trilogy. And the new trailer is just been there, done that without end IMO.LOTR trilogy was THE event movie worldwide for two years. You can't repeat that. Olive
3rd Trend: Ted (725k) The Dark Knight Rises (500k), Merida - Legende der Highlands (300k), Ice Age 4(250k), Rum Diary (45k), Edited August 5, 2012 by Olive
lab276
So Brave and Ice Age are likely to end up at the lower ends of their ranges. Shame about Brave really, but if 2012 has been anything, it's been leggy so it might still get a respectable total for its poor opening. lab276
Pretty good weekend overall, nice for Ted and TDKR. But very wak for Brave. Intouchables sticking around in the top 10 and TASM had a huge drop. MIB3 has passed TA. Edited August 7, 2012 by lab276
IndustriousAngel
Ted's number is even more amazing if you look at its low theater count - it more than doubled TDKR's PTA. And WOM is great, expecting 3 million admissions (as Insidekino.de does) may be lowballing it. A real breakout. With Austria and german-speaking Switzerland, the german areas account for more than 900k admissions this weekend. In Austria, Ted had 3 x the admissions of TDKR - just wow! The numbers are from BOM, they use a different €-$-rate this week and so the final gross of many films went actually down in US-$ - Intouchables (still in the Top10 in week 31) was at 83mil last week, for instance. The upcoming weekend has only (but finally) Prometheus as a big opener. With already 2 films dominating the adult market, screens will be at a premium and it will be interesting how theaters allocate their evening ressources. My guess: Ted stays on top and Prometheus beats out TDKR for nr. 2.
