Soft drops all around; Skyfall shows were selling out everywhere so I guess there was a good deal of spillover business. I was surprised how well Taken2 held against 007 (Bourne Legacy crashed). This weekend Skyfall will easily dominate again; however there are three openers which might do decent business: Argo, Here Comes the Boom, and Posession. IndustriousAngel
In Austria, 3rd quarter was the worst since I don't know when (at least 2005) ... but now with a comparatively strong October, Skyfall leading November, Hobbit in December and a nice slate of productions for all kinds of audiences* it may still become a good year for theaters.*e.g. BD2, Dredd, Rise of the Guardians, Wreck-it Ralph, Sinister, Argo, Life of Pi, Cloud Atlas ... IndustriousAngel
GER YTD is up slightly on last year, aug-oct period is way up on last yearThats nice. In part that's thanks to Intouchables which had a good run in Austria but an insane one in Germany. As a rule of thumb, in Austria a film will get about 15% of Germany's admissions ... in Intouchables case, that would amount to 1.3mil admissions while in reality it "only" did about 750k (IA4 made 950k). Since there are only about 12 to 14 million admissions each year, 500k up or down make a huge impact!

Rudolf
as OW 1.907m admissions were $21.5m, average ticket price for Skyfall was $11.29 (heavy for a 2D movie)1.25m admissions woud be $14.1m - compare with QoS $8.1m for 2nd we - would be an increase of 73.4%
IndustriousAngel
2nd trend: No changes for Skyfall (1.250k) and HCTB (225k), but Argo opens even weaker (40k), MAD3 in freefall (75k after 250k last weekend), HT in controlled fall (120k after 290k). peludo
This is a whole new decade..... new trends will emerge....Germany HP1 (2001): 67 million - HP7 (2010): 65 million. 9 years between them. New trends emerge, old trends continue. Drop in admissions? Of course. Drop in gross? I do not see it. And as you can see, I do not choose HP8 for final chapter reason. For the record, both FOTR and TTT grossed 78 million in Germany.

Sony with another fine weekend thanks also to the good opening of HCTB. The other major openers disappointed a bit; Argo got good reviews so maybe it can at least manage some legs. This weekend the major openers are "Cloud Atlas", "Dredd 3D" and "Secret of the Wings", also in 3D. Plus there are a lot of Twilight marathons and BD1 shows so there's the possibility BD1 will make the Top3, but I don't know if those shows count towards "official" runs or grosses (the yearly LotR marathons seemingly are not counted as official gross).
