Not sure Mexico is that well connected. So offline news outlet need to pick it up for it have an impact and it might still help more than hinder as no publicity is bad publicity.

It was a dumb thing to say though, involving what could potentially be one of its biggest intl markets. Social media is massive in Mexico, it only takes a Tweet from a popular account to unleash a negative reaction...let's hope that's not the case.

Among stupid racist comments, this one has to be one of the dumbest ones I've seen. However, I think for a man who dropped out of high school to be able to put together a phrase like 'cultural genocide' just speaks to how bright he is.

Meanwhile, FF7 is up to US$49.4m (weekend < US$3m), Universal's highest movie in Mexico. I think it's now in the Top 5 of all time, isn't it?

People are offended by everything now. There's nothing racist about what he said. Spanish isn't a race, it's a language. If he said it about a native German speaker using a second language no one would bat an eye, especially since it was compliment.

 

If we're talking offensive the use of the phrase "cultural genocide" in regards to movies is pretty fucking offensive to real cultural genocide that's occurred and is still occurring.
