Damn, that's a mighty optimistic forecast from the Oracle of random.org, but who am I to argue with it?

Guess the AMPTP will come to their senses sooner than later and the strikes are gonna be over quicker than I thought!

(ignore the last one about 2/23/24    )

Add in a two week to three timeline for WGA ratification and (hopefully) SAG-AFTRA negotiations/ratification to occur and...

The Writers Guild of America emailed strike captains the news on Sunday night, and shortly after, its negotiating committee informed members. “We have reached a tentative agreement on a new 2023 MBA, which is to say an agreement in principle on all deal points, subject to drafting final contract language,” the message stated. “We can say, with great pride, that this deal is exceptional – with meaningful gains and protections for writers in every sector of the membership.”

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers for comment.

LOOOOLLLLLL — THE WRITERS ***FINALLY*** BIGFOOTED THE AMPTP BY RUSHING TO THE PRESS FIRST!!!!

LOOOOLLLLLLL

("deal is exceptional" is a good sign that the WGA got a lot of what it wanted, if perhaps preemptive spin)

Okay so we still have a vote to send it to be voted on...ugh

It's all formalities at this point. It's the same thing as when the president wins and then the electoral college has to confirm it. No big deal.

I mean technically the legal language could be what’s full of loopholes that would make them go back, but they certainly sound positive in their statement at least.

If that was a possibility I think they wouldn't have made the statement.

Well their statement literally says “what’s left now is to make sure everything is codified in final legal language”…

It's probably their own lawyers making what remains of the contract, hence why they're so confident about it.

Yeah. These votes are formailties. If they reached a temptative deal, the Board and Council should already know the details about this deal and aprove it.

The only vote that could threaten the deal is the ratification by WGA members. Still, it's pretty unlikely most members really vote "NO" to the new deal.
