What's the dataset of "big budget December movies? I'm more inclined to fold in the other "big december blockbusters" (even with notably smaller openings) which makes the "TFA was an outlier not [TLJ/NWH]" point easier to make.

Not to bang this drum again, but I think an obvious answer (though presumably not all of it) is more potentially about covid. NRG was still publishing covid anecdotes through mid 2022 and winter 2021 surge was actually bad. When people explicitly tell pollsters they're not comfortable going to see movies in movie theaters that's obviously something that matters even if effects weren't as pronounced as you'd have expected at the time. If we're talking about capacity constraints restricting legs, that's much more unique scenario to explain what seems to otherwise be a weirdly anonymous short leg

TFA did not have the lingering aftereffects of Covid to deal with.
