Total Empire may be planning a big animation movie based on the very popular kids franchise Ratchet & Clank for Y5 Christmas.

More details are unavailable for now, as both Sony and John declined to comment.

Be careful about that, there are already three big tentpoles coming in the winter. The only way it could work for Y5 is if Cookie doesn't post his animated film for Thanksgiving, and it can go there. Then again, I don't want a Hindenberg/Red Pyramid-style mess again. I'd say write it if you can now. Worst case scenario: It's ready to go for Y6.

Official Guide to Arcturus Entertainment's Major Year 5 and Beyond Movies!

Oro: (30 April)

The search for El Dorado begins in Steven Spielberg's new epic, Oro. Following an Uncle (Javier Bardem), and a Nephew (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), and their tireless search for the mythical city of gold, with a regiment of troops, and a reluctant guide in tow. Shot in native IMAX 3D, Steven Spielberg says, "It really is a wonderful medium to work with, and if I had known that shooting in this medium would give such depth to the movie, I would've done so sooner." Look for this historical tale of greed, love, gold, and more in theatres beginning 30 April.

The 39 Clues: Maze of Bones (28 May)

The 39 Clues is an adaptation of the New York Times Best Selling children's book, and the first in a series of 10 books, written by distinguished children's authors in collaboration. Directed by Pirates of the Caribbean director, Gore Verbinski, this fun-filled, action-packed adventure movie, starring a large ensemble cast, takes place across oceans, through burning houses, bombs, and family in-fighting. The 39 Clues: Maze of Bones opens Memorial Day weekend, with its first sequel scheduled for Thanksgiving Year 6.

Empty Hearth (5 November - Wide)

Daniel Day-Lewis stars as an opportunistic gold prospector, in this historical drama by Joel, and Ethan Coen. Empty Hearth follows the Gold Rush of 1848, and a certain smart, yet unethical Samuel Richter as he strikes it rich, and tells the tell of how everything will eventually fall, and that the big will always fall the hardest. Opening wide 5 November, Empty Hearth will reach it's widest release on thanksgiving weekend with over 3000 theatres.

Worlds Apart (19 November)

As the world tears itself apart by war, Worlds Apart unfurls a grand yet intimate story, of duty, obligation, secrecy, paranoia, and above all the continuation of man-kind. Director Ridley Scott comments, "Worlds Apart is a special move for me, because it not only has the vast scale, and brilliant visuals that we see, and expect to see in a big budget movie, but also an air of intimacy, and familiarity, which movies like Transformers which are so good in the former, lack. The purpose of Worlds Apart, told through the brilliant acting of the cast, is a story that delves deeper than patriotism, and war, but one that symbolises the tragedy of war, and of the resiliency of the human race." Starring, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Chris Pine as 2 soldiers in the Allied Army, and a supporting cast of Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren, Ewan McGregor, and Michael Sheen, the clock ticks down until Armageddon. Watch for Worlds Apart, which was shot in native 15/70 IMAX, to hit theatres 19 November.

Last Ditch Effort (First Week of May, Year 6)

Babylon, the greatest empire of it's time, is falling, and the Persians are about to achieve an unheard of technological achievement; diverting one of the greatest rivers of their day, the Euphrates, all to conquer the mightiest city of them all, Babylon. Last Ditch Effort tells both sides of the tale, both within the city, and without, as both sides mount one last ditch effort to claim victory before it is too late. Directed by Peter Jackson,

Year 5 Looks To Be Shakey, Spellforce 3, Oro & More

As if Year 4 was big enough with Nirvana and Call of Duty, more potential hits are scheduling dates for what could be one of the biggest years of the new CAYOM. Of course, there are tons of hopeful tentpoles, most notable Spellforce: Shadow of the Pheonix (the final film in the successful franchise), Oro (a historical epic by Steven Speilberg), and Starcraft: Fury of the Swarm (the anticipated sequel to Starcraft). There are also hopeful franchise starters, like The Red Pyramid and Dawn of Oblivion.

Coming in January are horror movies Beast, Shocker, and Escalator, along with 3D concert film Psy: Sorry For Gangnam Styling and family comedy Slumber Party. February will bring along animated adaption One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, Denzel Washington thriller Countdown, adventure remake The Jungle Book, sci-fi thriller Tyrant, and the expansion of horror film 3:37 AM. March is packed, with Paradise Lost, Nonexistence, the Untitled Time Travel Comedy by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and animated comedy Where?. April will bring historical epic Oro, which is opening as the first summer film of Year 5, the conclusion to the infamous B-movie franchise Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson vs. Bigfoot, ZeroG, and the highly anticipated stop-motion comedy Psychonauts. May has some hopeful blockbusters, with The Next Dimension, Blue Beetle, The 39 Clues: Maze of Bones, and Espionage Project. Finally, we have animated comedy Magic Money-Printing Business of Magic scheduled for May 14, in what seems like a summer with a dearth of animated entertainment.

Come back soon for Part 2 of our Year 5 Movie Guide.

Because J.G. Quintel isn't exactly what I'd envision as a Hollywood director. That's why I'd use Brad Bird. He's great at animation and humor, both which a Regular Show movie would need. No offense to J.G, but...

He's also fantastic at action, ensembles, and original properties, which makes me think he wouldn't fit. Also, in Y4, I used Craig McCracken and (before Hotel Transylvania) Genndy Tartakovsky. This year, I'm using Alex Hirsch. That's one of the beauties of this game: you can get directors/writers/actors from TV big in movies. On that topic, I've been trying with David Henrie and David Tennant for a bit. Hopefully other users start using them. Already seen some support for Tennant, but I'm the only one who will give Henrie a job. :P

Tensions Rise On Independence Day Weekend, 906 Studios Responds

Written on April 20, Year 5

As we near summer, one of the most controversial weekends has been Independence Day weekend. On July 2, two tentpoles will be released to audiences. One of them is Hindenburg, directed by Bryan Singer and based on the monumental disaster, and The Red Pyramid, directed by Shawn Levy and based on the best-selling book of the same name. Both have large budgets and a wave of great buzz from previews, once again dividing audiences between this double trouble.

Both The Red Pyramid and Hindenburg were shot during spring of Year 4, with Hindenburg scheduled for July 2. The Red Pyramid was settled at June 11, but due to Hindenburg's numerous production delays, The Red Pyramid made a change for the same date. It seemed Hindenburg would need to schedule for a later date. That proved to be a futile philosophy, as Hindenburg quickly wrapped up production and stayed on the same date.

Upping the ante even more was IMAX prints attached to Lord Madship. Before the release of Lord Madship, both 906 Studios and Golden Age Films made an agreement to split the total amount of prints developed. There were still some unedted prints, and some showings showed both 6-min footage, with a few customers leaving the theater.

The makerting campaigns have also built up pressure. The Red Pyramid has been showing priceless reactions from early screening of the film, while Hindenburg is trying to present the amazing visuals in a stylistic fashion. In a poll conducted by 906 Studios, 51% said they would see The Red Pyramid on opening weekend, though 53% said they would see Hindenburg after opening weekend. As the marketing boils down, and early buzz surfaces, this tension dosen't seem to slow down.

Golden Age Films declined to comment for this story.

Some points:Did you and Alfred actually agree to split the total amount of prints involved? Why are you dictating Hindenburg's marketing? There have been no reviews-how then can you show priceless reactions? I would wait until you actually get reviews of the film before stating the early buzz has been great. As for the poll, yeah I don't think anyone is going to take it seriously.
