Blankments Productions Year 5 Schedule

Blankments Productions has just announced their Year 5 projects, subject to change.

First off, Blankments Productions would like to say they are pleased by the response of Year 4's DCU films, and their plan will be moving forward. While Perseus Films will be handling production on Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle (due for release in May and June of Year 5 respectively,) Blankments Productions will making two films for the DCU. The first, Plastic-Man, is due out August, and will star David Tennant (Lord Madship) and Jesse Eisenberg (Call Me Maybe,) and Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada). The film will be directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and will follow the origins of the often forgotten Justice League member, and his fight against the nefarious Kite-Man. The second DCU film from Blankments Productions will be Teen Titans, due out in December. The film will star David Henrie (Army of Two), Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle,) AnnaSophia Robb (The Last Six,) Abigail Breslin (Call Me Maybe,) newcomer Ryan Kelley, and Ron Perlman (Hellboy.) The film, following the origins of the storied team and their first battle with Deathstroke, will be directed by Joe Cornish (Gregor the Overlander).

Fans of original action movies should not fear the DCU slate, as Blankments Productions is also releasing two original summer blockbusters. Espionage Project, due in May, follows two framed spies who try to clear their name despite hating each other. The film is written by Brad Bird (The Last Six) and Matthew Vaughn (Dragon Age) and directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity). The film will star Tom Cruise (8AM,) Matt Damon (Warcraft: Masquerade,) and Gerard Butler (300). On Independence Day Weekend, fans will have an original sci-fi from the mind of Marc Webb (The Bellringer of Notre Dame). Lucid will follow a man who finds out he is stuck in a dream, and must find a way to wake up within three days dream-time, or remain in a coma for the rest of his life. The film will star Andrew Garfield (The Last Six), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Lord Madship), Clark Gregg (Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson vs.), and Denis Leary (The Amazing Spider-Man).

Year 5 will bring the end of a franchise and the beginning of a new one. Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson vs. Bigfoot will be the final Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson team-up film. Norris, Neeson, director Clark Gregg, and the rest of the cast will return, with the addition of Bruce Willis (Legend of the Red Dragon), and James Earl Jones (Star Wars). The film is due out in April. On Christmas weekend, audiences over the globe will be transported to Camelot, as the first of a planned quadrilogy is released, The Once and Future King: The Sword in the Stone. The film will include a huge ensemble cast lead by Asa Butterfield (A Series of Unfortunate Events) and Gary Oldman (Lord Madship), and will be directed by Kenneth Branagh (Thane of the Flies).

Finally, Blankments Productions has two major adaptations being released for potential awards. The first, The Dogs of Babel, based on the bestselling novel, will directed by Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind) and star Jason Isaacs (SpellForce), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), and Elizabeth Banks (Leitmotif). The film follows a man who is determined to find out how his wife died, by learning the language of the only witness: Dog. The second film, Everyman, will be directed by Richard Eyre (The Other Man). Based off the morality play, the film will have a large ensemble cast lead by Tom Hiddleston (Bohemian).

Blankments Productions also has plans for concert films for Psy and Adele; Summer Wars, an live-adaptation of the hit anime movie directed by Jon Faverau (Iron Man) and Genndy Tartakovsky (Bone - Vernal Equinox); an untitled time travel comedy, featuring an all-star cast directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (21 Jump Street); and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, an animated movie directed by Ron Letterman (Green Eggs and Ham) and starring Mr. T (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs). Year 5 is looking to be Blankments Productions' biggest year yet!

C00k13 Pictures Enters The CAYOM Industry

"No, it's not pronounced 'cook-thirteen'" replies the company executive to one of our reporters' questions at the press gathering in downtown L.A tonight. "The vowels in the name are just replaced with numbers. It merely says cookie."

News broke by twitter earlier today that a new studio has set up shop in CAYOM, hoping to cash in on the current craze. The studio doesn't have the intentions to only make low-budget independent films, but are currently putting blockbuster and academy-hopeful films into production as well. "If our future competitors think we will sit in a dark corner and produce direct-to-dvd crap, they are dead wrong" states the company executive of C00k13 Pictures. Questions were asked if the newly formed studio had any relation to the defunct SRS Studios in CAYOM 1.0, but the executive declines to comment on the matter.

Along with the formation of the studio an animated division was also established, Animax, as for the time being the studio wants to invest in major animated productions. "We know there is heavy competition in the animation department as of now, but we have several veteran animators already on board. In order to distinguish ourselves from the crowd, I feel we need to be more avant-garde with our animated offerings" says the executive. "That does not imply that we will turn away from the family audience, but we hope to shift between families and strictly adults, as we feel there is potential for animated features that cater mainly to an older crowd, even though animated films like that are rare." Animated films for adult audiences have always been risky ventures, and some objections to the studio's plans is that the studio would need to deliver as big hits as possible in order to survive in the hostile CAYOM environment, and adult animation is far from the best way to go. In response, the executive said that they will make their best effort to build a good reputation with audiences across all demographics. "We will try to please kids and adults alike every year. We will offer something the whole family can watch together during the day, and something mommy and daddy can watch by themselves at night. No-one will get left behind."

Live-action wise the studio will make few offerings of in the coming years, but there will not be any sacrifice on quality. "When we have hope for a venture we will always do our best. Bad movies aren't going to make their way into theaters that easily." Currently, there is one animated feature and one live-action film put into production, while a third film is currently lingering between mediums. "We have a treatment for that film, but we are not sure which medium we want to approach it with yet. It could make a huge difference whichever we choose" says the executive. On whether or not they have any adaptations in plan, the executive responds "We have not secured any rights for any pre-existing franchise. Not yet at least."

The studio is currently said to have $250m to invest their first few films with, all planned to be released in Year 5. "It would be unwise to spend all that money immediately, but our calculations on the total budget for the three films is approaching that amount" the executive mentions. "If we go over-budget we have to crawl back to our investors and beg on our knees" he laughs.

The current Year 5 line-up from C00k13 Pictures looks like this:

Untitled Animation (March 5th)

The Last Colony (October 8th)

Abstract (November 24th)

The studio does not wish to release any details about the three films at this time, but hope to do so within a week or two. Stay tuned for more information.

Correction on Monday's News Story

We incorrectly stated that The Party Party would be getting a sequel scheduled for Year 6. The Party Party has not actually had a sequel ordered, but Army of Two has. The Army of Two sequel is scheduled for Year 6, but Michael Mann is not expected to return as director.
