Official OD in USD : $2.6M (~¥330M)

I guess ¥1100M-¥1150M ($8.65M-$9.05M) OW.

Ratings :

4.6 :「Y! 映画」(link)

4.6 :「Filmark」(link

4.5 :「Movie Walker」(link)

Is Dragon Ball Super even shaping up to be that big? Feels pretty muted right now

I think it should still be able to comfortably gross more than The Batman (1.2B yen if I remember correctly), maybe with some good reviews it can reach the 2B...

From @eigarankingnews

Top Gun Maverick

OD : x¥350M

OP : x¥870M

OW: ¥1220M

I am thinking about ¥1100M+. Let's see how it's reported (in USD) by Paramount. Slightly felt short of ¥900M OP (Sat-Sun) record of Mission Impossible II.

Paramount : $9.7M (~¥1230M)

You think it can reach 5bil yen total?

When is the last time big hollywood movie have this kind of rating in there ?

Can't remember. It's a different level of ratings. Even established franchise like Star Wars are around 4.0-4.3 at Yahoo Movie. I will check web archive. and confirm later

Japan already having a much better year for HW films between FB3, TGM and DS2.

I really hope Lightyear does well as well will  be nice to have a western anime film making some money in the country again.

Bohemian Rhapsody

4.58  :「Y! 映画」(link)

4.40  :「映画.com」(link)

4.30  :「Movie Walker」(link)

4.30  :「Filmark」(link)

This is the highest possible rating I could find. Next is Zootopia (4.4 in Y! 映画)

I was thinking it's Frozen but it isn't close.

Lightyear will perform well. Another potential ¥5.00B in the market. Pixar's Movies are quite popular. I wish Soul and Luca could have got Theatrical release here. Last big Pixar release was Toy Story 4 (¥10.09B) back in 2019.

I'm hoping for a Toy Story like box office so at least close to to 10B which I think is doable given what we have seen from some of the anime titles the last 2 years. But yeah 5B would still be good, a lot of it will come down to word of mouth as is the way with Japan 90% of the time.

I also hope there is a synergy boost from the newly opened Toy Story Hotel at Tokyo Disney :)

Buzz isn't that popular as Woody. But, who knows if it gonna go beyond imagination. I am thinking something like above Coco (¥5.00B) and close to Finding Dory (¥6.83B). [Ofc if it's a sudden breakout like recent TGM then ¥10.00B should be on cards] Date is also perfect i.e 07/01, 14-days away from Minion 2 and local release "Kingdom 2" (07/15). Just need some miracle for better E.R., as this summer has four possible ¥1.00B+ opener starting with LightYear (07/01), ending with Jurassic World: Dominion (07/29).

Yeah ER is really hurting Hollywood blockbusters the Euro has been very weak as well, we need the USD to cool off a bit.

This monday is extremely strong for top gun.

Yeah thats why i ask what is the biggest non holiday monday since Frozen 2 before. It's a bit slowing down though. Hopefully still at least 50% down from Sunday.

I think Rise of Skywalker had 109k monday at usuals and the 23rd of december is not holiday in Japan iirc, so probably that one I guess. Though maybe some schools are already out by then, I really don't know but it shouldn't be the case. NWH was still holiday monday (but looking at its other weekdays I don't think it would've gone this high on monday regardless without the holiday), FB3 was way lower, and I don't think another hollywood contender post-F2 even exists for me to bother checking.
