Not sure how common it was back then, but I don't think it's uncommon now. Even Mario had them. They didn't do well, but they were there.

15 seems really unlikely to me. At most it can crawl to low 14, maybe, but even then lower still feels more likely.

yeah I kind of based my answer on older data... the movie will likely be wiped out by the time Miyazaki's movie comes out.

Movies can generally coexist pretty well in Japan (even DS didn't annihilate holdovers and that's as big an opening as we'll ever see), but July tends to be a pretty tough month for holdovers in general most of the time when a lot of strong films start coming out. If it keeps holding well then it can go 14b, but 15 seems really, really hard regardless to me.

 

There's also the fact that Mario is still holding onto 4dx screens (and in particular 4dx 3d screens which are bumping up the atp quite a bit still), so it still has a big drop in store for when it does lose them.
