What are the releases for this week? show count is critical to maximize the obon period.

On August 9th, there is a Crayon Shin-chan movie. Those are annual releases, and the last one made 2.5 billion Yen. I expect it will have about as many seats on mimorin as Inside Out 2 has now, about 250,000. We'll find out in two days, how many seats it will have.

I expect that My Hero Academia will lose quite many seats because it's selling less than Inside Out 2 but has more seats than it.

I think Crayon Shin-Chan is the only truly major release on August 9th, but I could be wrong.

Well I can get Disney obsession for PR since the competition was close. But, WB one was funny - because these are the foreign Live Action that debuted

"Twister" - 337 Theatres

"Dune" (4K Remastered) - 17 Theatres

"Le consentement" - 10 Theatres

"Nightsiren" - 8 Theatres

Where Twister did ¥160M / 100K admits and Overall Ranking was at 8th at WKend Chart

good weekdays for IO2 so far

It's doing 15% better than Despicable Me 4 did on its first Wednesday. I think that's very good. So far, looking like a path to 4 billion Yen, or $27 million.

anyone has IO2 weekday numbers so far? What kind of second weekend drop is expected?

I have this data tracked from Mimorin. These are just my estimates.

date final sales conversion yen total
July 31, 2024 7424 15466.66667 21808000 21.808
August 1, 2024 75437 157160.4167 179162875 200.970875
August 2, 2024 45571 86801.90476 121522666.7 322.4935417
August 3, 2024 65943 125605.7143 175848000 498.3415417
August 4, 2024 88642 168841.9048 236378666.7 734.7202083
August 5, 2024 46367 88318.09524 123645333.3 858.3655417
August 6, 2024 45395 86466.66667 121053333.3 979.418875
August 7, 2024 67725 129000 180600000 1160.018875

I think Inside Out 2 is at 1.16 billion Yen right now. As for the weekend drop, I think it should be pretty flat, so a 3 day total of of around 440-530 million Yen. Obon is coming up which will help all movies. Wednesday isn't done so it still has some numbers to add up, but very little.

Also today we will find out how many seats Inside Out 2 has allocated starting Friday, when Crayon Shin-Chan opens.

I realise reading comprehension is hard but I was speaking in regards to my hope of it getting a bump on the weekdays after its ending monday which it did not get, as in fact the weekdays hold have been about as weak as usual for this

then again not sure why I am explaining it to a random alt/troll/whatever whose first impulse is to come here and insult

typically wed should be slightly more toho-skewed and a bit lower atp, but overall sounds about right

expecting toho will still play favorites with the seats to a degree and keep mha on more than it really needs but IO2 should have good allocations for the weekend and more importantly obon given the weekdays

yeah I know it's a discount date for Toho but I don't know what the real average ticket price is.

I have seen a few Toho theaters give Inside Out 2 the biggest screens they have. Toho also has another movie coming up this weekend, Crayon Shin-chan.

What's with this doomposting? It's literally performing better than the previous movie did on weekdays. Also why would the ending of the manga impact anything?

I think it's downbeat because it opened very high, but couldn't sustain that level, and reaching the 4 billion Yen target that Toho wants is looking uncertain. I think it will clear 3 billion Yen like the last movie though.

if "I was thinking it would have better weekdays than the usual really frontloaded weekdays mha films get due to an increase in buzz from the ending, but it doesn't seem to have happened" looks like doomposting to you, I don't think the problem is in what I wrote. More like you're looking for something to be mad about if anything.
