Recommended Posts

Rurouni is def #1, then a gap and Prom/TA are neck and neck with Prom just slighly ahead

Sounds good for TA in its 2nd weekend and very happy that Prometheus is doing well and on track for a good OW.

Not really because 75% of Japanese films are based on manga or a tv series. The annual releases of Doraemon, Pokemon, etc. typically get above average multipliers, and the live-action manga/tv series releases rarely fall below a multiplier of 5 (I can only think of one this year). However, Kenshin is #1 this weekend but it appears the 500 million yen reports were taking previews into account afterall. They usually don't. Still a very strong opening, though. Weekend Estimates are coming up.

It's all right, but I believe it's going to be a bit frontloaded. It's had previews all month, and the previews from last weekend are over 50% of it's estimates opening weekend. That's usually a bad sign for legs (see Amazing Spider-Man), and reviews are mediocre, too.Not knowing how much it's earned in combined previews, it'll probably finish around 1.5 billion yen ($20 million).
